Toyo R/T and BFG AT KO 2

I know these tires are relatively new but has anyone heard anything on these? I'm getting close to replacing my stock BFG's and want to go to 35's. I was thinking Toyo AT 2 until now...

Call me biased, but I'll never own another set of BFG's...

I'll be looking for tires again next fall, and the new Toyo R/T and Cooper ST Maxx are on the short list.

I honestly would let someone else guinea pig them and see how they review. Toyos are notorious for being quality but im always skeptical of new release products. The ats have been tested and have a nice warranty to boot.

I've seen nothing but good reviews on the A/T II's. If it was me I'd go that route.

Ditto. The new BFG AT's don't look all that different than the current ones besides some more offset in the outer lugs and a some slight sidewall lugs.

I hate em, but a lot of y'all hate the KO's, I've always liked the KO's, don't know why they would ruin a good thing, same with the KM's, I loved them, then they discontinue them and make the KM2's. Which I hate. But I'm primarily basing all this on looks, cause I'm a mall crawler

Those R/T's caught my eye as well. Probably too soon to tell if they are worthy or not.

We have a lot of guys running the ST Maxx's, on the right of way, every day. No complaints that I've heard of. The R/T's look like they'd be that great in between tire. The price between the coopers and Toyo's would be a big factor for me. I believe nitto has a dog in the fight too. Can't remember the name of it though.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably hold off a couple more months since my 12 isn't a daily driver. I've only heard good things about the Toyo AT 2's and I'm strongly leaning that way. The new question is a 34s or 35s???

I personally will probably be buying a set of these either as dailys or just winters as they are rated for extreme weather snow conditions now which is awsome! Considering the original bfg's weren't that good for snow at all and needed to be aired down a lot to function in snow and sandy stuff. Size will be 37 12.5 r-17.

Discount Tire posted this over on Dodge Talk: http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=497921

I haven't watched any of the video's, but I thought it was funny that they brought this up about the same time this thread popped up.

I've run a few sets of the a/t KOs on 3 different trucks & they're just ok, there's much better choices for the $$. I am really liking these Duratracs, seem like the perfect do it all tire & they're not terribly expensive in 35" from SAMs either. Unless there's a compelling reason I discover, like they only last 20K miles, I'm sticking w/ them.

Ya those duratracs are nice looking. Do they make a 37"? Like I said the thing about the new k/o's that gets me is the tread compound rating for extreme weather and how it's rated the same as a snow! That's wicked. That means wet traction will be awsome. The bfg has a pretty good reputation in baja no? I had mine a few times looking pancakes and once I aired them back up they were always good no balance issues etc. must be a reason oem were using them not just to save $$$$

Duratrac only comes in 315 as the biggest offered size. Bfgs are hit or miss with reviews, some love them, some hate them, I ran a set of 315s and had no issues with them aside from them being small. I do think there are better choices available now tho

New bfg review on pirate 4x4
Interesting review, but where I live this doesn't do much for me. I'm more concerned about winter driving, and my stock BFG's with 24,000 miles have been just ok tires (not the worst I've had, not the best). Every person I know that runs the Toyo Open Country A/T II's up here love them for our terrain.

Ya I've heard nothing but good things about them. Also the yoko at for a 37" option is good from what I hear. Hard to get around the fact they look so damn tame though lol

That's the issue, looks play a part as well, they fit most needs perfectly, but the fact that guys want looks too leads them towards other choices. All I know is after the headaches im having with my balancing issues im not cheaping out on tires again

Yaaaa hodge I hear ya. I've been lucky with the Mickey mtz both sets I've run 35 and 37 have been pretty good no chunking (haven't run on a lot of 1/4" gravel though) and balance has been pretty good despite user errors. My tire guy pushes them on guys trying to get toyo mt. Because he's a big believe that they balance better and have better tread life then the toyo. Price is also a big selling point. Also Mickey was really good with warranty on a friends tires like insanely pleasing. He had a huge sidewall crack on his atz's and they were a year old with great tread so they warrantied four tires for him no charge. He also asked if he could upgrade to a 35" and they said sure just pay the difference. So they swapped his 33" atzs to a 35" atz p3 for an extra 250$ :o

Yeaaaa I cant say im that Lucky. Im currently trying to get a Craig's list buyer for my 37s. Then its back to my old 33s (gag) until I figure out Wtf to do. So many 35" choices bit they look so silly at 4" of lift. Yet 37s are usually overpriced and hard to find.....the struggle is real

I have mastercraft mxts. Got in a pinch and needed tires and toyos were backordered and coopers were too long of a wait. Hindsight is 20/20 I have a local guy who wants to swap me for some bfgs. So ill run them for the winter and see what is available in spring. After all these tire related issues im buying something good. Lessons learned
