Bullydog settings

Post by autogateman » Tue Jul 08, 2014 7:23 pm

I got my tuner in today and was wondering what shift points you guys have yours set at? Does it only make a difference at WOT? I'd like to get it to down shift a little sooner instead of lugging down then shifting after I'm way into the throttle, causing it to rev way up. Btw it's a 2012.

Thanks,
Rod

I hate that down shift problem in mine, a 2010 but I don't have a tuner yet. Will be watching this thread for reports.

I'd have to check but mine downshifts almost too early since I installed a Intune. Barely on the gas going up a hill and vroooomm. Haha. But I get way better mpg.

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

Mine is strictly uphill kinda crusing and just wont down shift, then give a bit of gas and BAM! It wants to see just how fast we can get to the top (usually not far) and throw anything not tied down to the back seat.

My Trinity is the same kinda way. It thinks you're grandma hauling the groceries to half throttle or so, then with just a little more throttle it thinks you're trying to out-run the cops and it down shifts and throws you back in the seat, and it shifts HARD too. I've thought about trying to adjust it but it looks a little confusing. There's an adjustment for shift points, part throttle shift points and line pressure. As well as a few other things, but I don't think they have anything to do with the shifting. I may give it a shot sometime, or just give Hemifever a shout and see of he can fix it along with a good tune...

I know it can be adjusted some how because mine doesn't do it if I run the 87 mpg booster tune. It shifts much smoother and throughout but when I'm running the Hemifever 93 tune and it's a lot more "peppy" on the shifts and holds the gears longer...

That makes sense. I'm running the 87 tune bc there's no way I'm paying for premium lol

The thing is I get a solid mpg better in town on the 93 tune which costs about $7 more per tank around here but is overcome by the mpg increase by roughly $3 per tank... I think its because of the Hemifever tune is more efficient throughout the power band. I've left it at 93 for a few weeks and now it'll be hard to go back

So I just happen to be trying to update my 40430 this morning, and am a little stumped as to which 'vehicle application' I need. There are two possible options that could be for my truck (2012): '11-'13 Dodge/Chrysler or '11-'13 Dodge/Chrysler 3.6L/5.7L?

What is everybody use? I assume the second option since it has the 5.7
2012 Beast.

I don't remember exactly how it was labeled, but the 6.4l was covered under the setting I chose also.

Maybe it is the 3G versas the 4G, but in the 87 tune I am getting 13.5 in town (I do not go above 45mph) and it is a 30 minute commut for me with long runs between lights. Then when I am towing my boat I am getting 10.5mpg with the 93 Low/Haul tune. Once again, I am driving about an hour one way and never go obove 50mph.

I know the speed is the biggest key here, so not sure how you're driving but that will matter.

Also, you do not have to run 93 Octane with the 93 tow/haul tune. I run the 87 octane (NONE ethenol) all the time.

Not to throw confusion, I'm running a Diablo Intune so the names of the tunes may be different. With the 93 Hemitune, if I drive around 50mph, I'll get 17-18mpg, but my overall, non-reset average is 13 and I have a truck bed full of stuff and on 37's...

And there's such a difference between the 87 and 93 tunes, I wouldn't mix it up in mine (run 87 on the 93)
