How does one remove the center portion of the dash?

If it's about Power Wagons, all generations, this is where it'll go. This is the original PWR Forum Power Wagon Technical Discussion Section. And this includes everything that doesn’t fit in any one of the other categories related to the truck goes here!

How does one remove the center portion of the dash?

Post by RAM4ROKS » Sat Jul 05, 2014 4:30 pm

I want to remove the center portion of my dash (the area around the radio and HVAC controls, on down to the floor console) so that I can figure out a CB mount but, I have no clue how to take apart the center section and don't want to just go breaking stuff trying to remove it not knowing how. Does it just pop into place or does it have fasteners, or what? Thanks!!!

There's two torx screws on the top under the rubber mat and one behind the cover for the 110v outlet (if you have it). Then just pull.

I know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but did that help at all?

Will you post pics once you have it mounted? I was looking at that area for a CB mount also.

myoung84- Exactly what I needed to know, thanks!

SheepdogOutdoorsman- a HUGE help actually, I am planning to route my wires through the firewall like you did but, I forgot who's thread showed how! (yours!)

bryanh416- will do! Hopefully be doing it later this week!

I'm curious on this as well. I have a small Cobra 75WSXT that I plan to mount. Since the cleanest power is straight to the battery, I'll sneak the power through the drsd firewall. Than I need to find a place for a quick release to mount the antenna.

The best performing EASY antenna would be a mag mount on your roof.....just run the cable over the weather strip. That's what I'm doing with my 75watt 2 meter and it works fine.

I do have the power through the firewall directly to the + and - battery.

Well I'm just gonna bring the thread back from dead for a minute. I installed my CB radio today. There's a cubby hole under the dash where I imagine the ash tray would normally go. I cut the back out for wiring and shoved it in there as far as it would go. It sticks out a little farther than iwould like, but I think it looks pretty good.
