rear pinion play
rear pinion play
I had noticed a clunk going into gear rev or drive. Check to see if it was a you joint,t-box,etc I found that the rear pinion has about a quarter turn back and forth moving from rev to drive. Hopefully one of you guys have seen to can tell me if its normal with the 4.56 gears. There is no side to side play in the pinion bearing, there is no play in and out of the bearing, and there seems to be no exsive noise from the gears. WTF hopeing this in normal and not the start of a axle build, truck only has 84k and stock for the most part

My '07 1500 did the same thing and so does my '13 PW. I think it's normal ... At least I hope so

Re: rear pinion play
That's normal. You can do the same thing to the front driveshaft.
