Long shot but I'll throw it out there. Have taken my truck to the dealer for oil changes as they are essentially free. Each time I have pointed out the need to service the front drive train. Each time I have asked after the performance if it was done and I would get the same answer, "can't be done it's a sealed system". After showing them some you tube videos, they oblige and get the work done. I mention this as I understand one of the symptoms of not performing this service is a cracked or depending on how fast your going exploding transfer case. Wonder if his was ever done. Sucks either way but could be a way to push the responsibility to the dealer.

I can't find a grease zerk on my double cardan like a lot of the older trucks. I do however service and grease the slip yoke for the front driveshaft and also service the double Carson by spraying with white grease per the hood sticker. This what your talking about chrisjames?

Check on YouTube you'll find some vids on it. There is a small seal that requires a needle insertion to grease. Sorry I can't explain it well. I was talking to the service director where I take the truck after the mechanics and writer said it couldn't be done because no zerks. He told me a story of his buddies rig that blew the transfer case into pieces. Said it put a large dent in the undercarriage floor board, thought he hit something that came up. Only figured it out after being pulled over by the highway patrol who stated your vehicle parts went through the front windshield of a Mercedes. Luckily no deaths but said it was thousands of dollars worth of damage to all involved.

The process to grease this part is obscure that I bet it never gets done. Class action suit for you litigious types...

Okay ya a picture would help. I remember when my friend gave me the old driveshaft he did under warranty I remember looking at it to see if it had one and I couldn't find it. I've been greasing the outside of it with a spray heavy duty grease and I don't have any vibrations etc. I only have about 15,000km on this driveshaft that's currently on the truck so I'm not worried about this one but I'm worried about the older one I'm having lengthened which has about 40,000km on it :/

It's there. Mine has a light pink marked x. It was covered in grime. You have to lift the front tires off the ground and turn them while looking into the u joint. It's there just very difficult to find which is why I think it never ever gets done unless you do it yourself. Considering the damage that could be done, I make sure it gets taken care of.

I tried to take pictures of it but they didn't really show the location well. I found this video on YouTube:

The fitting is really visible at 35 seconds.

Hi guys, I grenaded my transfer case last week. I think this stupid double cardon u joint is to blame it was dry as a bone! :wtf: As predicted my dealer mechanic said the lube joint doesnt exist! Im just venting at this point, but I would like chrysler to replace my dead parts since they maintained my truck for the first 100k miles. I now have 180K so i doubt it but im pissed off right now. Ill try to post some pics for you all to laugh at me. Matthew
