Mopar performance cam???????

Post by TrashyOilfield » Sun Feb 16, 2014 3:55 pm

Has anyone installed or know someone who has installed the Mopar performance cam? It seems like a pretty inexpensive upgrade for the amount of horsepower that is claimed. I found the cam itself for around $200 and my local dodge dealer says they will do the install for 8 hours of labor. Comes out to be around $1000 for 60+ horse. Wanting to know if it is worth the money? ????

Not to be a downer but I would be shocked if you actually see gains of 60hp. If you did heads at the same time as the cam, yes I can see it, but cam only no, especially if tuning is not required. Also I think $1000 for the install is a little steep. I did the cam in my 3rd gen in ~6hrs taking my time and many breaks, and you don't need any really special tools to do it. If you are anywhere near southern ontario, I would be willing to do the install for a heck of a lot less than that.

Isn't a custom tune also required, is the dealer doing that as well?

I'd be more than willing to do it, and that offer goes for the fella's in the South too. I have my passport so I can legally get back into Canada, lol.

My truck is running pretty strong. I haven't done any more tuning to it as it's been such a crappy winter I haven't bothered, and I would never plant the power anyway. I still have a lot I am leaving on the table, and hopefully come spring get the new clutch in it and we will really get it nailed down.

Man come on down to tn & sling a cam in for me.
2010 Ram Power Wagon. dual exhaust, CAI, 87mm moes throttle body, diablo intune, spyntec manual hub kit, icon control arms, top gun customz panhard adjustable bar, 2 inch coil spacer. Stock shocks. 35x12.50x17 general grabber red letter out, amp power steps. Electric fan. Top gun customz +2 sway bar end links.

My absolute favorite things I've put on thus far, the amp power steps & those icon control arms (tire rub drives me nuts). That & every performance bolt on I've put on I freaking love, but if I had to choose it would be those steps (gotta bad leg & the steps are a major help) & icon control arms.

Buy the right parts the first time! Because the job is done, when it's done right!
