More tire questions?

I know there is a million tire question threads already. I was looking at the TOYO website and noticed they had 285-70-17 i.e. our factory tire size and 285-75-17 so I plugged the numbers into a tire calculator and seen
285/70-17 285/75-17 Difference
Diameter inches (mm) 32.71 (830.8) 33.83 (859.3) 1.12 (28.5) 3.4%
Width inches (mm) 11.22 (285) 11.22 (285) 0 (0) 0%
Circum. inches (mm) 102.76 (2610.04) 106.28 (2699.57) 3.53 (89.54) 3.4%
Sidewall Height inches (mm) 7.85 (199.5) 8.42 (213.75) 0.56 (14.25) 7.1%
Revolutions per mile (km) 616.6 (383.14) 596.15 (370.43) -20.45 (-12.71) -3.3%
It is over and inch difference the 285-75-17 will be close to 34" I was wondering being as I don't want to do any suspension mods to my truck if the 285-75-17 will fit without any rubbing issues. It will be a good while before I need tires but I like to research ahead of time.

Yes, the 285/75R17 tire will fit with the factor suspension and won't rub the control arms. There are a few of us here (myself included) that are currently running this size. Granted I have the BFG KM2s, but still the same size. Are you going AT 2, or Open Country M/T?

I think I might go with the Toyo AT2 when the time comes. The only thing I don't like about the AT2 285-75-17 is they are only available with BSW I like white letter. I'm only seeing a few options in that size so far though. The Toyo AT2 the BFG Mud terrains and some nitto's. How have you liked your BFG KM2s? How long have you had them? What mileage have you gotten out of them? I think a mud terrain will be too aggressive for me. I usually get 60,000 miles minimum out of my load range E tires on my 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. The last set of BFG AT's I had on my 08 F350 I got 62,400 miles out of them. I didn't like the tread design of the old Firestone steel techs but we used to get 80,000 to 90,000 miles out of them. I would not run a steel tech on a power wagon though too much of a street tire. I want a good aggressive AT but decent mileage. The BFG AT's have treated me well so far I have the toyo at2 on my 2012 CTD I have 40,000 on them so far and looks like I can get another 20,000 to 30,000 out of them. So the Toyo might be the tire I end up with on the power wagon when it comes time even though again I don't like the BSW.

Ran the nittos for a couple months in that size with no problems.

I ran the trail grapplers, but only for a couple thousand miles before switching to the toyo open countrys. I did notice a little wear in only the short amount of time I had them on the truck. Other than that, no complaints.

I was out the door at my dealership with 285/70/17 E Cooper ST Maxx at $1300. That was in July. Check them out. They are very aggressive for an all terrain tire.

Yeah quite a few options in our stock tire size. But I'm looking to go up the inch in diameter to the 285-75-17s I really wish I could get the toyo AT2 in that size with the white letters.

I've got about 36,000 on my KM2s and they have about 9/32nds left on them. I've been pretty happy with them, with the exception of their lateral traction. They tend to under-steer in snow/ice and mud. Going straight though, they've been great. You've just got to know you can't take turns very quickly in slick conditions (rain traction is just fine). Just out of curiosity, I'm going to run the Goodyear MT/R with Kevlar (315/70R17) for my next tire.

This is what I'm running summer and winter. The one on the right is the toyo at 2 extreme it is available only in 285/75/17 and 315/70/17
Second picture is the regular at2 beside the extreme. Different tire sized but the voids on the extreme way bigger. And load range E

Anyone heard of these? Kanati mud dogs???... at Sam's Club. I usually stick to BFG, Goodyear or Cooper but since I don't like the MTR-K and I noticed these look a crap ton a lot like the 1st gen MTR.

Why don't you like the MTR's? Is it just the look or the performance. I don't like the look of them but everyone I know that runs them loves them and they will be my next purchase I believe.

There is a huge debate on it but if you look at the MTR-K from head on it is not a symmetrical design and lots of folks are saying that it only works well on one side of the vehicle. I've loved my MTR's on my jeep but just dont know about the K's...

I've got the Toyo Open Country AT2 "Xtreme" on my PW ----- my second set, in fact. I'm pretty sure that I scored the first set of 285/75-17 sold since I had them on order, got sent the wrong (old model) set first, and they're made in GA.
Anyhow, the first set wore out fast, like 20K miles, and they honored the treadlife guarantee. The second set is wearing better.
They don't rub a bit and are GREAT in snow/ice, okay in mud, great on the road.
