Going to need some new skins in the spring here. I can get a set of these general grabber at2in 35x12.5/17 e load range on stock rims for a pretty good price. These tires have a "snowflake rating" which for around my area is good. I have heard lots of good things but you guys have the opinion I value the most. Whatcha think?

They were my #3 choice when I decided to go to an All Terrain. It was very close to a toss up between them and the Cooper AT for second. I'd have no reservation about getting a set.

The Toyo AT2 XTreme was the #1 tire for me, and it's been stellar so far.

How are they on icy roads and snow? Most of my wheelin consists of getting to and from town and chores around the farm. Plus a little weekend stuff with the boys hehe. They need to be deadly in snow for sure

Well, it's been one of if not the driest winter I've ever experienced in Aridzona.

Our mountains would ordinarily have a 1 to 3 foot deep snow pack by this time of year, and they are pretty much totally snow free. So, I've not had the opportunity to even try the Toyo's on snow and ice yet. I expect they will do excellent tho - with lots of edges and siping for ice, yet a more void space than most other AT's for deeper snow, it should be a good tire up north. For me it's a compromise - I know that a full on MT usually does better than an AT here since our snow is wet and heavy most of the time.

The stock bfg ats that come with our trucks have that snowflake rating. I had a set on my old Cherokee and they were amazing. But seeing as I have had death wobble problems and they haven't lasted too many miles I won't go back. I'm in between the Toyo at2 the general at2 and the good old duratracks. I know the duratracks are good tires but pretty pricey compared to the generals and toyos.

You should really look at the Cooper S/T Maxx. I have about 12,000 miles on them and really like them. So far they have been good in the snow. The only time I have gotten stuck was when I was pushing snow with the bumper. They are wearing quite nicely also, there is very little wear. I think I should be able to get 45,000- 50,000 miles out of them. The Dodge dealer here gave me a great deal on them. He said Chrysler told them to sell the tires at or below cost because then they get to look at your truck and find repairs. Another great thing about them is they are still an American Company.

Hands down the Goodyear Duratrac's have been an amazing tire for me in the snow/slush we have been getting in Northern Utah. For me it was a toss up between the Duratrac's and the Toyo AT2's.

I'm torn between the Toyo AT2 Extreme and the ST Maxx. The Duratracs were up there as well, but I just can't go with the 2 ply side wall. If they had 3 plys, I would be all over them. I did read somewhere that the E rated versions are 3 ply???? But they don't make an E in the size I want, so it doesn't really matter.

I had the wrangler territory on my tundra which are a knock off of the duratracks made for a specific store. They were deadly tires but only come as big as our stock size. I want bigger!! I'm forced to look elsewhere. The biggest thing for me is sidewall and snow/ice performance. As I said before, the death wobble has gotten me and I know the weak bfg tires aren't helping that. Anyone had any luck with the silent armours? They are less aggressive but a deadly snow tire I'm told. Plus you can get them in an e range ....

We had a set on an '05 Tacoma; great tire. Tough as nails - they were built on the same carcass as the MT/R. I don't see them in a size for the big trucks tho...

The Kelly Safari TSR tires are made by Goodyear and are also a knockoff of the Duratracs. I put them on this fall in the 315/70/17 size and love them so far. Quite good in snow and respectable on ice too. Downside is only the 2 ply sidewall. I had the Wrangler Territories on before the Kelly Safaris and wanted a bigger size. Based on overall performance I would say the Kelly Safaris are a step up from the Wrangler Territories.

Where do you pick up those? I got the territory's from Canadian tire. They are always on sale but the biggest they go is 285/70/17. I want the 35s but they just don't make em. Will have to bite the bullet and shell out some cash on the duratracs. They seem like where I want to be.

Talked to a guy at Kal tire and he seems to think the terra grapplers would be a good tire for me too.... Never heard of them. Don't look as aggressive as the duratracs so I doubt they would be much good in the mud but for snow they seem like they would be alright. Thoughts?

Fountain Tire sells the Kelly brand which is nice for me because they have shops all over Northern AB. Got 4 installed for just over $1300.

Terra Grapplers are a mild AT, but they should be good on ice. Deeper snow and mud will be a challenge tho, so I'd recommend at least one set of chains be in the truck.
