Backwoods Bumpers

Post by Cactus Red » Tue Jan 21, 2014 10:07 am

http://backwoodsbumpers.com/?p=869

My rear bumper is toast . smacked it again, and it just looks like hell.

So, I'm looking around to see what's available, and came across these guys stuff. Price looks reasonable, the design looks good, the materials are stout enough.

Anyone had any dealings with or know about these guys?

I got mine from Dodge Off Road, one of the weld it yourself kits. They have welded ones too. But I am really happy with it. I was able to fit a winch in it while keeping the stock spare. I have not dealt with the one you listed, but it looks pretty good.

Do you have some pics of how you mounted your winch in the rear bumper? I've always wanted to do that and I've seen some good deals on winches around here but have no place to put one....yet

3/8" is plenty stout. As long as it is braced in the proper spots, it should be nearly indestructible.

I like it. I've been eyeing the road rhino bumpers, but I just added this one to the list. I think I still like the road rhino front better for the 04 with the scallops under the headlights, but I like this rear bumper better.

I've been in contact with the guys at Backwoods.

They'd really like to see a Power Wagon up close to do some measuring on one. Evan mentioned they'd like to do a Power Wagon specific front bumper!

Yeah, no chin, no extra overhang, and extra clearance too boot.

So, who's in the area???

A Power Wagon Specific Front Bumper that is matched with a Rear Bumper that would allow for a rear winch would be sweet. I've yet to see the exact setup I want. I wonder if I'm just too picky?

The workmanship and bumpers look great. I definitely dig their black wrinkle powder coat too... from what we talked and measured it will stick out maybe 2" further than the stock one and have a 4"x 20"-24" gusseted slot so there is no need for another fairlead. Going to tack one together for fitment and clearance checking in the next couple weeks. will for sure pass along any input and put up some pics for approvals too. I did have to go with an aftermarket winch in the factory mount since mine was pillaged so any 4G guys have pics with the front bumpers off so we can compare freespool knob, remote plug and control pack locations?

I actually have my Trail Ready Pre-Runner Guard Bumper off right now getting re-powder coated. If you want, I could take some pictures of everything while it's off. I've already relocated my winch controller port to inside the cab, but if you look through by build thread I believe I have some detailed pictures of its location and set up. As for the rest I have the winch and bracket with the roller fairleads off the truck, but everything is still assembled in one unit save the control pack. I can take pictures of what I have. Maybe it will help some? ...

I think Myyoung has some pics with his front bumper off in his build thread (here and on Dodge Talk). You might find what you need there.

Well anything is good for a reference so thanks. I also mentioned a rear winch ready bumper able to keep spare and a remote plug mounted to bumper somewhere.
