I am always searching for more info on tires. Still waiting impatiently for my Mickey T ATZ's to wear out. They are a pretty solid tire so far but they have decided to develop a bit of a left pull. Anyways, next set is going to be an MT. Tired of all the left pull/ right pull BS I have been reading about Toyos and Nittos so those are out. I was set on Mickey T MTZ's. Thinking I like the looks of the Dick Cepek Mud Country now. They now come in a 35 x 12.5 x 17 load range D or E. Made by Cooper/Mickey Thompson. (what I read somewhere) Not a bad review to be found on the internet so far. Anyone had any experience with these?

I just got a set of the Nitto Trail Grappler MTs in 35 12.50R 17 put on mine just before the Rausch Creek trip...they have been working great on my truck so far. Nothing negative to say about 'em. A good number of the guys on that trip had that tire, too. I know there has been some negative reviews out there, but I haven't had any problems out of mine. They balanced out super easy and dug through everything encountered up at Rausch. Lots less expensive than the Mickeys....you might want to at least give 'em another look.

I'm also running a set of the Nitto Trails. Bought'm used with about 4000 on'm, and now at roughly 10K, I'm still pleased with them. Looks like they are wearing real well too. They take very little weight, are round, but they are heavy. Going from the BFG KM2 to the Nitto dropped my MPG by about 1.5. In fact, they are 18.5 lbs heavier apiece!

Interesting.. Was just reading specs and a load range D Dick Cepek MT is 78 lbs and a load range E is 68 lbs? How does that work?

Yup, sho nuff. Maybe it is a misprint ? Maybe buyers were complaining about mpg loss & they lightened it up for that ? Maybe they use new materials/rubber compound that are as strong/stronger yet lighter ? The load rating is MORE on the LIGHTER tire ! Plus, the lighter tire has deeper tread depth.

Hmmmm, right now, i'm leaning towards a misprint, but thats subject to change. I like this tread design & tire as well.

It must be the other way around 68 lbs D 78 lbs E

Pitbull rockers come in load range E if you want something really gnarly...I think powerwagonmark is running a set. probably what i'm going to go with next

I am still very happy with my Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ's a year in. Mickey Thompson, Pro Comp, and possibly Dick Cepek are all owned by Cooper Tire.

OUCH!!! Going from the stock BFG ATs to the BFG KM2s cost me 2 to 3 MPG. Your MPG must be a negative calculation!

I was thinking same thing.. I wondered how much my km2's were costing me... would be sweet to have a spare smaller street set for towing and trips...
