Post by TwinStick » Fri Nov 08, 2013 5:07 pm

So, EXACTLY what size is the maximum that i can fit on stock rims, stock suspension w/Carli CroMo offset +.5" control arms & Carli adj track bar set at 39", without rubbing at full flex ?

315/70/17 ?

2012 PW. Have Thuren arms and Carli coils and running 35/12.50/17 on stock wheels. Have some rubbing at coil buckets at compression when turning. Think I just need new bump stops. Not sure if it helps but there you go.

With your 3G setup you can fit both of those tires. 315s or 35s should be fine in your case with the only place possible to rub is the front of the front wheel liner, but only at full compression and nearly full turn in (rare on most trails). It will be very light rub if ever and won't leave rub marks that damage the plastic.

On the 3G our limitations with stock wheels and Carli, Thuren or similar .5" longer arms with tire clearance in mind is the front of the rear fender, the front bumper and front of the wheel liner for 37". So if you use a .5" pin relocater/spacer on the leaf spring perches and space the front bumper out 3/4>1" or run a prerun or similar high clearance bumper you would have no issues with 37" tires on stock wheels.

With 1/2 over arms and a 1" spacer, I have cleared the Nitto Trail's that are a lot closer to a 35-13.5 than a 12.5. But, without a kinked or otherwise cleared control arms, they will rub at full lock.
I'm just along for the ride...

Thanks fellas. Tread is getting worn down on my :jawdrop: stock rims & STOCK BFG's  i put away for winter & my Cooper STT's on cheap ass Atlas rims i put on today for winter. Don't want stock size anymore. 35's minimum. I guess i can't complain about the Cooper STT's. I ran em for 2 or 3 winters on my old 2004 Ram 2500 & 6-7 winters on my 08' PW. (took delivery on 11/30/07, drove it home 8 miles & switched tires & rims) Stock rims have never seen salt !
