Interesting for sure. The extra displacement sounds good as does the beefier axle. But kind of disappointing they're going with 4.10s. Though the extra power will help the "peppiness", I imagine those of us going to 35s or larger will be really wanting the 4.56s intead. I'm still on the fence about the suspension. I suppose if the arms are long enough and the links designed well, the off-road performance might be quite good.

Hmmmm, here's what like:
Coil sprung rear axle with similar payload ratings
6.4L Hemi
Here's what I'm not 100% sure about:
11.5 rear axle (seems like overkill, and I think it has even lower ground clearance)
4.10 gears (personally I love the 4.56 gears, especially when towing my travel trailer)
I think I will have to find one once they hit dealer lots and compare my 2011 side by side then of course on a test drive!

Hmmm... interesting....but I think I may wait for the 10th Anniversary edition.

11.5" rear axle? Hmmm.... that makes me happy! That means that gears lower than 4.56 will be possible without having to swap out the Power Wagon's rear axle for that of a diesel and losing the rear selectable locker in the process! (though I am sure nothing lower than 4.56 will be available from the factory) Hmmm, 6.4L Hemi, flexy lifted suspension (once the aftermarket catches up), and the potential to run lower gears so say... 40" tires could be appropriately geared for....

Yeah I know, but they will more than likely do a 10th anniversary edition like they did with the Rubicon. The Power Wagon has become apart of the Ram Flagship (along with the Cummins) similar to how the Rubicon has become the face of the Jeep Brand

10th anniversary edition would be awfully cool!!! And, that would be coming out right when my truck would be 4-5 years old.
I'm lucky that my work gives me a nice monthly allowance for my personal vehicle of choice and also pays for all of my day to day gas. As long as Ram keeps investing in the Power Wagon I plan on keeping that my vehicle of choice!!!

This makes me really happy that I have my 2012. I'll keep my 4.56 gears and my smaller Hemi thank you very much.
"With the newfound horsepower and torque under the hood, the 2014 Ram Power Wagon will make a switch to 4.10 axle gears from the 4.56 gears that the axles were previously loaded with. The gear swap to 4.10s is said to improve drivability and fuel economy"

All of these changes are pretty exciting, but I think I'll keep my 12. I was seriously considering selling my truck and ordering a 14 this fall, but that consideration is fading fast. The new suspension seems cool and the new interior and electronics are awesome, but I have a feeling it's going to be a while before the aftermarket catches up with some nice suspension packages. And I like my 4.56s...

with a 6.4l and 33's, i bet they could make the 4.10's work well together if tuned right. and an added bonus just MAYBE we could go up 1mpg.
so does this mean we could experience a rear suspension death wobble? cool!

So does the 6.4 come with twin alternators?

I like the bigger engine, all the other changes, not so much...
I still would like to see changes that make the PW better off road like 35" tire, new wheels, (these haven't changed since 2005), better shocks (looks like the Bilstein's are gone), etc...

Looks like it is an option.
http://www.netcarshow.com/dodge/2014-ram_heavy_duty/:
"Both the Ram 2500 and 3500 equipped with the new 6.4-liter HEMIĀ® V-8 gas engine also will offer a dual-alternator system - the first gas-driven application of its kind in either class - that combines 220- and 160-amp units for 380-amps of total best-in-class output."

Maybe front and rear at the same time, that would be wild!

4:10 gears...........
4:56 gears is what makes the Power Wagon a Power Wagon. You might as well order the Outdoorsman package now with 4:10 gears as I am assuming it will be available with the airbag option unlike the PW package. Add some air lockers, aftermarket bumper and winch, etc.
Maybe I am just old school, but I like the leaf springs on my '10. I purchased the pickup for several reasons, some reasons being the off road capability, the ability to use this pickup as a work pickup to pull, tow, and winch, and the extra room for some examples. I feel like they are taking away some of the Power Wagons positive attributes.
I'll be keeping my 2010 for years and years since I have the Max Care lifetime warranty. As long as Chrysler is in business I will have my 2010.

I hope I don't sound dumb and I haven't looked into it yet, but read somewhere the 6.4 hd trucks will have mds like the 1500s? Sounds dumb to me and not sure if they are talking out their rear. Just something I read.
I know don't believe everything you read

This would be a first, but it wouldn't shock me. So far no HD Hemi's have come with MDS and I hope it stays that way.

Hey, if they did a tenth anniversary with a G-56 AND brought back the regular cab, my 2012 would be getting traded in!!! A regular cab 6.4L stick shift would be a HOOT!!!! But, barring that impossibility, I think I'll be keeping my 2012.

Now if they would just get the lockers to work......

I've been waiting for the 6.4.. It was one of the reasons I sold my 2011 Ram. I knew the transmissions would be changing and the 6.4 just HAD to be in the pipeline even though people have been saying it was dead for years.
I am one very happy to see the upgrades for the 2014. Now bring back the manual trans!

Maybe we should all e-mail Ram Corporate, it never hurts to ask. I actually love my quad cab. Not so much for people, but interior storage. I still love my G56. IMHO, the shit would be: Quad Cab, 6.4L Hemi , 4.56, dual alternators, 11.5" rear w/locker, G56 & all the rest of the PW goodies.

Am I the only one that is possibly seeing the PW being phased out here ? Sharing of parts, 11.5" w/locker, same rear suspension as a reg 2500, 4.10 gears etc... . It is almost to the point of- (maybe they are consolidating & gonna make a rear elec locker & winch options-which would save them money) maybe it is better getting a 2500 or 3500 & lifting it yourself. Hope this is not the case.

They are certainly consolidating the rear axle & diff locker as the locker is to now be an option on the other Heavy Duty's. They needed to do this to compete with Ford's Electric Locker and GM's Auto Locker. If I remember another article I recently read, the 10.5" axle may be dropped from the lineup entirely and all Heavy Duty's will have the 11.5" (or new 11.8" on DRW models).
