'13 interior squeak/rubbing

Post by mcdozendriver » Fri Jul 05, 2013 7:18 pm

So after 2400 miles and a couple trail rides, the new PW has developed a rather annoying squeak and rub. I have isolated the noise to the Transfer case shifter. I have pulled the cover and checked for any signs of rubbing as well as crawled under the truck, but cant find anything. Has anyone else with a 4th gen had this problem? I don't know if it is from hitting a few too many rocks or the 105+ degree heat for the past two weeks that is playing havoc on the plastic/metal. Just wanted to to check here before I bring it all the way to the dealership to get it looked at. Thanks guys.

I did for a bit. I think it was just the leather around the shifter. It went away on its own so I dunno

I have the same noise. It's definitely the transfer case shifter. Not sure how to make it go away.. Maybe just need to put some more miles on it & it will go away on it's own luge stubie said.

Well it was driving me crazy again tonight so I pulled the cover off again and hit it with some compressed air to blow some dirt out of the linkage then hit it with some wd40, both in the cab and under the body. Noise disappeared so I guess it was more of the pesky sand and dirt that I didn't clean out good enough. We will see how it does tomorrow.

When trying to get rid of squeaks and lubricating things such has hinges, etc., try dry silicone spray instead of WD40. It doesn't drip, smell (good for interior use), or attract crud. I like CRC brand over the others.
