What is your best "stuck" story? Here is mine...

I'm sure there are plenty of good "stuck" stories regarding our legendary Power Wagon's...
Here is mine for starters...
Let me first say, this is the first time my wagon has been stuck, I've always been the rig of choice for recovery of all manner of other stuck rigs.
While trail riding in northern MN last weekend I managed to do this to my rig while crossing a old beaver dam...
Image

The thing really dug it self in... I was in 4 low but not locked front or rear when I went in... once in I locked front and rear and just dug it in deeper.
Let me layout the recovery tries and there results...
#1 30 ft strap connected to a Grand Cherokee, full launch with 10 ft of slack... didn't even shake the wagon.
It did manage to move all his camping gear from the rear storage area to the front seat however!

#2 Dig, Dig, Dig, air down tires from 45 psi to 25 psi, single line the winch (12,000 lbs)...
closest tree over 200 ft away, so we tied the winch to a Toyota Tacoma with front and rear receivers then tied together 2 tow straps and finally a 6" pine.
Winch pulled to a stall, only after pulling the Toyota back 3 ft and starting to tip the pine tree over!
The wagon never moved. damn it really is stuck!

#3 Dig, Dig, Dig some more, double line the winch (24,000 lbs)
Tie the winch to a mid 70's Range Rover, then tied it to the Toyota, then tied it to two new pine trees.
The winch didn't stall, preceeded to pull both the Rover and the Toyota and tip both trees ALL AT ONCE!
Starting to worry...

#4 Tie on to the rear, after more digging.
Used a 30 ft strap with 10ft of slack connected to a huge model 110 Range Rover (think suburban size Rover)
We managed to pull the Wagon back 4 ft... yes! we are at least free!

#5 Filled the ruts with logs and sticks, dug out more slope, connected the Range rover and Toyota with 30 ft straps each to the front of the Wagon.
We had 10ft of slack in each of the 2 tow straps... worked the timing so the Toyota took off, then the Rover, and I nailed the gas on the Wagon as the whole thing got tight.
Wham-O, the Wagon leaps out of the hole! Free at last, free at last!

Total time = 2 hours
Total man power = 8 guys
Total vehical count used = 3
Cost = 2 cases of beer that night at camp!!
Priceless time had by all...

OK, guys top that....

Well this happened over a year ago. I was going down the trail and came to some logs after crossing the logs there was a small puddle well the puddle ended up being a 3 foot deep mud hole  I was in a swamp and there were no trees close enough to winch too. I was all alone so I walked out the trail to a dirt road after about an hour a guy in a Jeep drove by and I waved him down. He was nice enough to drive me into town where I found a few guys who were nice enough to pull me out. After I got out the jeep guy got stuck so I pulled him out.

Does it have to be in a power wagon or a previous life in a jeep? ;) it took three jeeps and two straps, winch and a tree to get me out once ... as far as with my last wagon I got suck in freezing weather and the winch died under water and had to get yanked out with a jeep... never heard the end of that! Lol

The title says your best stuck story. Doesn't say it had to be a PW! :-)

OK here it is, my first 4x4 1970 something jeep wagoneer. Four wheeling in the great pacific northwest at night. Driving not on a road in a clear cut forest, got a stump stuck behind the drivers side tire in the wheel well. Good thing I had my chain saw with me :)

If that's the case, I've got hundreds.
Bury a 54,000 lb. mixer all the way to the axles in mud and it makes for a long day. Quite a few years back I was stuck so bad that when a 3 axle Peterbilt wrecker started to winch it started to slide toward me, we had to use 40,000 lb. dump truck as a deadman for the wrecker. It was not only a long day, it was also very expensive.

I ruined the IFS on my dad's Ford Ranger getting stuck back when I was in my 20's  Lets just say he wasn't very pleased. Got high centered on a stump on the side of a mud hole. Took me and the two other dudes I was with 2-3 hours to dig, saw, chip away at the stump with leathermans and pocket knives before we were finally able to jack the truck up high enough with the P.O.S spare tire jack to get it free. Drove it out with the tops of both front wheels slanted inward so bad that I could barely steer it. Haven't been stuck like that ever since. (knock on wood).

The only really back stuck I had in my Power Wagon was in the Pecos River, I was recued by another Power Wagon, got zero pictures, and that is what destroyed my Smart Bar. All my other bad stucks are in other rigs, with the Power Wagon usually saving me.

I was totally stupid and took my Jeep TJ through a creek with a muddy bottom before checking how deep it was. I ended up on a steep decline with the nose buried under water and water in my engine! The entrance to the creek was so steep no body could pull be out backwards. So I ended up needing an F250 and a Jeep YJ to pull me out down and through the creek to the other side. Ended up getting my whole interior full of water. Cost me around $5,000 to have the whole engine rebuilt.
