I don't recommend doing this but if anyone wonders about the towing capability of our trucks here you go. I hauled a backhoe that weighed almost 23,000 pounds on my trailer that weighs 6000 pounds. I towed it about 15 miles up and down hills that changed elevation about 500 feet in less than a mile. The truck survived!!

You "THINK" you overloaded it ?

WOW !!! Even though it is way overloaded, i think it could have been a LOT less stress on the truck if a little more of the weight was over the trailer tires. Looks like the backhoe could have closed up more, letting you back it up a little more. Judging by the trucks squat, you had plenty of weight to play with.

If I brought the boom in tighter it made it too tall. I cleared all the low hanging tree limbs like it was.

You could back it up onto trailer.

Placing it different would have maybe made the truck not look like the front wheels were going to come off the ground. But the hoe being around 23000 already put the trailer at least 9000 - 11000 lbs overloaded. I would check to make sure your trailer axles are not bent now, as well as the rear axle on the truck.

This is my Camping unit and the trailer weighs 16000 lbs loaded and the Jeep (5000 lbs) is a counter balance so the hitch weight works out to about 2000 lbs and I know it's a good pull fo my Cummins. I could not imagine what it would be like if I tried pulling it with my Hemi; let alone the weight you pulled.

Some questions:

How were the brakes coming down the hills?

How was the engine going up the hills?

2WD or 4WD (low?)

Sorry for the slow reply. I have brakes on my trailer so not a huge issue but the hills were steep. The engine did great, slowed to 25mph at one point but it kept dragging it! All the driving was in 2wd high. Used vehicles are fine, I've made sure this truck has no defects or weak points!!
