I used to like wheeling with a manual. Until I got an automatic. Since I don't have three feet, it's nice to have two pedals.

I prefer a manual in a tow rig and around town, but on the side of a mountain, no thanks.

There's a few roadsters I'd enjoy driving with a manual but otherwise I'don't rather have an auto.

HAL comes standard in all 14's+. Jus wait till it has steering control like in the fords. Emergency lane change maneuver... I can't let you do that Dave...

But all kidding aside I know in my 06 when in 4lo the ecm would use engine braking for hill decent. I used it. And it worked well since it braked all 4 tires together. Wheel spin needing traction control? No. If you can't learn to modulate your throttle to driving conditions then that's a you problem. Going to fast in icy conditions and needing esc to kick in and help save you? Again a you problem. Don't get me wrong I completely understand things happen no matter how prepared you are. But the systems being installed in every mainstream vehicle is to save bad drivers from themselves. People believe driving is their right! And not a privilege. Respect for your vehicle, the road and other drivers around you has become as obsolete as my old Atari game system. So welcome to the modern world of "entitled" citizens. Enjoy what you have no matter how intrusive it is now because not long from now HAL will be your driver.
