AEV Ram!
Re: AEV Ram!
I think those steps are stock Ram accessory steps, a LOT of the trucks around here have them from the factory. Would DEFINITELY be better with a nice set of sliders! I LOVE the Salta HD wheels, they look awesome on that truck! Also, really digging the Prospector decals!!! The bumper and RAI are cool but, too bulky to go on my truck. I love the orange, awesome looking truck all together!!!

Re: AEV Ram!
So--I'm trying to line up the snorkel install this summer when I head up to AEV Michigan and was talking with their tech about my locker by-pass and he said AEV may not agree to do the install if I have some sort of aftermarket electronics package bolted behind the airbox. He said i can either remove it before I come up there, or they will look at it when I bring it up there, but they'd still charge me at least an hr of shop time even if they decide it's too tight of a fit, or they can't work around it.

Re: AEV Ram!
That's kinda dumb, I guess they are losing money if they make an appointment for you and can't get it done because of it and charge you the hour, but what would it matter for the electrical side of it? It's not like the RAI taps into the electronics. I'd see if there was a way to temporarily move it before you take it over and then re-install it in the same spot or somewhere else afterwards.adeluca73 wrote:So--I'm trying to line up the snorkel install this summer when I head up to AEV Michigan and was talking with their tech about my locker by-pass and he said AEV may not agree to do the install if I have some sort of aftermarket electronics package bolted behind the airbox. Re: AEV Ram!
Yeah, I hear you. It's probably my fault. I was driving and probably didn't do an adequate job of explaining it. I think what threw him was when I mentioned I had attached a 4x5" electronics box to the sheet metal behind the airbox---and he said well "the raised intake plumbs through the body to the airbox, so if you have something screwed into the sheet metal from the inside, we can't plumb in the intake manifold."Stickman wrote:That's kinda dumb, I guess they are losing money if they make an appointment for you and can't get it done because of it and charge you the hour, but what would it matter for the electrical side of it? I see, I'm sure if you showed him what it actually was and what it did he would probably understand and could probably find an alternate spot to mount it.

Re: AEV Ram!
There's a few pictures floating around the AEV site and Facebook Page. Here's a Power Wagon they did with the new wheels. It's pretty sharp!
My question though is how well is the AEV Power Wagon going to flex versus a stock wagon? There sure doesn't seem like a lot of room for those 37" tires. I could be wrong, but it's just a question that keeps popping up in the back of my mind.

Re: AEV Ram!
That is a very good question. I'd hate to see them stiffen it up more. Maybe you should FB them and ask what the RTI is versus stock. All the pics are parking pics, no real pics so they haven't proved that they have improved the PW.

Re: AEV Ram!
Should ride pretty close to stock, it uses spring spacers. Their shock tuning will likely be geared toward a comfortable daily driver, from what I've heard of their other kits. Not the best example (since it is not a Ram!) BUT, my buddy has an AEV lift on his 4 door Jeep JK Rubicon and says it rides actually softer than he wanted. Maybe not too bad an example though- if you think about it, a JK and a Power Wagon now have a VERY similar suspension design!
As for room for 37s- the wheels they offer have pretty similar specs to our stock wheels so, 3" lift should be fine for 37s. Heck, my Carli setup is only 2" or so of lift and I am running 37s no problem!

Re: AEV Ram!
Well anybody interested in the Raised Air Intake/Snorkel by AEV for the Hemi, it's going to be "a few more weeks" according to Dave Harrington. I knew it would be summer before we saw them, but I had hoped for sooner. At least they are making they do it right the first time instead of rushing into anything.

Re: AEV Ram!
I'm more concerned about the lack of skid plate on the bumper. They claim they have a skid plate in the works to protect more of the underbody of the truck (radiator and such). I'm still holding off on any kind of bumper for now. I'm hoping what I do won't destroy the stock bumper anytime soon.Takingatrip1 wrote:The bumper looks great but It doesn't look like it affords any additional approach angle to me.... Anyone else?

Re: AEV Ram!
This thread has been going on forever, definitely been a lot of interest in the AEV line for sometime.
1. I actually do like the slotted Salata Black wheels. Not sure they're a functional improvement over the stock wheels. It's a $1000 upgrade to get 4, and seems almost purely a cosmetic change unless you're going to 37" tires, and from what I read, I think these are wider than stock to accommodate the scaling in width going from 33" to 37". These aren't on my list anytime soon. Maybe one day in the next 3-5 yrs, just not now.
2. The bumpers are cool looking, but as I've said before, I don't see any real benefit in this bumper over stock. It requires relocating the winch, and It doesn't seem any more stout than stock, but I don't really know until I see one in person. A new bumper (or Line-X the stock) is in my future, just not sure this is the one.
3. I am still hoping my 4th of July plan to get the RAI installed over 4th of July weekend at AEV Michigan will still work....

Re: AEV Ram!
If they are going to call it a prospector it had damn well better come with a pickaxe and shovel. There is no excuse. They toss all that stuff on it and forget the basics of the real purpose of a prospector or what one does. Very, very, silly oversight. Prospector = pickaxe + shovel

Has AED addressed lowered payload/towing with their diesel package? Curious what the 37's would do performance wise.
