azracer- Did they mention anything about when they might start production?

AEV has an office about 4 miles from where I work so I may have to swing by there to say howdy. This is really not good for my bank account!

Well he said four to five months before it will go into production. I have no idea when product will be available as he said he had no firm timeline. I suspect all initial orders will be for their own trucks for customer orders but he did not say that.

SEMA 2013 Ram truck roundup.

Wasn't sure if I should post this as it isn't mine and really does not fit here on our forum but hell why not.

I was so disappointed with the representation of Ram trucks at the show and took very few photos as a result. The Ford roundup was far better for the off road trucks but even those were overwhelmed with the dualie on 24" wheels with 10 or more inches of lift and blocks almost as tall in the back.

There are however some of the AEV ram full view photos in there that I forgot to take.

Sema was way to flashy this year. Stupid tall trucks with 400" of LED light bars. It's become a contest of how much crap you can throw on a truck. It's like the next generation of a JC Whitney catalog. There were a few good ones in there though.

Holy hell, I agree. From most of the pictures I've seen, its such a waste of horrible crap no one is going to buy. Either that or its a lot easier to start an off road shop than I thought.

That is why I don't like those Westin bars or anything of that sort that isn't built and proven to take a hit on my truck.
My Almuiness bumper took out a pheasant in a puff of feathers the other day and there wasn't even a scuff on the bumper.. Oddly enough.

http://blogs.cars.com/files/aev-ram-con ... 13.docxAEV Ram Concept Vehicle – SEMA Show 2013

The vehicle: 2014 Ram 2500 Crew Cab Diesel
The concept: Since 1997, American Expedition Vehicles has been on the cutting edge of the 4WD industry, constantly pushing the boundaries of design and innovation. AEV recognized that there is a void in the industry for customers who require a vehicle that is very capable off-road, has exceptional handling characteristics and ride quality but also has a large cargo capacity and is able to satisfy the demands of a heavy towing. AEV felt that the Ram was the ideal vehicle platform to fill this void. The AEV Ram Concept is gear toward the outdoorsman—someone who requires a capable vehicle off-road, but still requires the larger size, higher towing capacity and increased payload of a ¾ or 1-ton pickup truck. AEV set out to achieve these goals by breaking the mold of the traditional “lifted truck” methodology and utilized their engineering and design expertise to create a complete vehicle package that includes components that are designed to work in harmony with each other in both style and functionality. The result is a great looking truck with high ground clearance, a low center of gravity and superior front end protection.

AEV Ram Front Bumper
• Industry’s only stamped steel, winch compatible front bumper for the Ram
• 3/16” steel construction
• Modular design to allow customers to customize the bumper to suit their individual needs and personal style preferences
• 1/4” steel winch mount accommodates 12-16.5k winches
• Heavy duty shackle mounts
• Provisions for 6.5” integrated off-road lights
• Compatible with 2010+ Ram 1500/2500/3500/4500/5500 trucks

AEV Ram Wheel
• 17X10 Ram-specific fitment
• OE-quality, A-356 cast aluminum construction
• SAE J2530 Certified
• 3,650lbs Load Rating
• Cast-in hub cover
• Recessed valve stem

AEV 3” Ram Suspension System
• Raises the vehicle 3” in the front and 2” in the rear for a level stance
• Retains OE coil springs to maintain capability
• Optimized suspension geometry for improved handling and increased roll center
• Custom-tuned shocks to improve ride quality
• High Steer Kit to correct steering geometry and provide precision steering

AEV High Clearance Fender Flares
• Provides additional clearance for larger tires with less lift—accommodates a 40” tire with only 3 inches of lift.
• Fender Flare design integrates with and compliments the AEV Premium Front Bumper for an aggressive yet refined appearance.

Interesting link. I bet a rear bumper with a spare tire holder is in the works. All I know is this setup is going to be expensive!

yes very expensive if we will need to retrofit/ purchace a new truck with the new radias arm/ rear coil setup... I know I'm not the first to say this but... I am (as well as a lot of others on this forum) very interested in big tires with minimal lift and anyone who successfuly has accomplished fitting 37" and over tires on a leaf sprung truck and is willing to share the process and sell the required parts is going to get a lot of attention. The point being someone in the automotive aftermarket industry needs to get cracking and scoop up some of my cash :patriot:

If you guys really want that then start calling and e-mailing them with questions and concerns. It is early enough in the project that they may incorporate your desires and concerns into the process.

They plan to make a no lift kit for 2010 > 201? Basically flairs and a bumper to fit 37" tires. For us PW owners he said to just move the OEM bumper forward with 1" spacers or a set of brackets they may make if there is enough interest out in the market. We would only need the brackets and flairs nothing else would be required to fit 37" tires. Other than cutting the fenders and buying their inner fender liners that is :secret: .

After I looked at the lift I noticed that the front track bar will limit up travel at the frame side and limit droop as well as up travel on the axle end. Their idea of moving the axle forward of over and inch seems ill-advised for those who are after performance and articulation. I asked about the up travel and droop and was told that with the 3" lift the axle cycle up and down retains the OEM suspension travel. At that point I backed off as he seemed to be getting a bit uncomfortable. I believe the no lift kit with 37" is the way to IMHO.

Yup you are correct. One that will hold a 40" tire is in their plans. While I was there the Cummins rep came up and discussed a joint project for some upcoming auto show. I believe we may see more serious refinement of this kit in the very near future. The public however seemed to just pass it up and go to the trucks with 44" tires and 15" of lift. I was very unimpressed with the public and their lack of attention to this truck.

I almost forgot that he did say our winch will fit their bumper with no mods other than rotating the ends 1/4 turn to put the mounting holes facing down instead of forward like ours are now.
