I'm with you- I'm thinking Snorkel for sure, but them I'm 50/50 on the wheels. Probably going to hold off on bumper purchases for now.

The PW Hood graphic is kind of silly, blacking out the hood is designed to reduce glare, but the entire hood needs to be blacked out to be effective. For Chrysler to place a decal over all the curved surfaces of the hood vs just slapping on a decal in the center flat section is way too hard and time consuming...the purpose got lost in translation...So it becomes a joke to anyone who knows the point of the hood graphic since its now ineffective."

Thanks for bringing the pic over here. It's tougher for me to get time while at work. I can't wait to get all the Ram parts here at the shop. Two of us here currently have Ram 2500's. My PW and a '12 Ram 2500 with Cummins. I'm hoping one of us will at least put the entire AEV Catalog on our rigs.

One of the few "Just cause it looks cool" parts I will buy for my truck. Love the way that makes the truck look.

Ditto on the snorkel. Bumper is running a close second, but the wife may lose it with the bumper.

1. The PW pic shows the snorkel with the curved 90deg intake, but the SEMA 2500 has the round circumferential intake. So which is the production version, or is it a user option? I like the circular intake because it's unique.

2. Anyone get a good look at the bumper? Do they retain the stock winch mounting and just add a cut-out to access the stock fairlead?

So here's the punch list for the next 1-2 yrs in order of priority:

1. Martin's locker kit ( per his email, I was #3 on the list back in early/mid Dec)
2. DOR steering brace
3. Whiteknuckle sliders when the new model is released late this winter
4. AEV snorkel
5. AEV bumper

yikes she's gonna kill me. :run:

I've seen the original AEV Concept truck, the white truck that was at SEMA this year, and I have seen the red truck all in person (even taken a ride in the original silver concept truck). Hopefully I can help:

1. The PW pic shows the snorkel with the curved 90deg intake, but the SEMA 2500 has the round circumferential intake. So which is the production version, or is it a user option? I like the circular intake because it's unique.
You can either go with the 90 Degree Intake on the Power Wagon or you can go with the round top. The round top is an extra filter which AEV claims get's something like 90% of the dirt is collected there before it gets to your stock filter.

2. Anyone get a good look at the bumper? Do they retain the stock winch mounting and just add a cut-out to access the stock fairlead?
You're going to have to move the winch from the stock location to the bumper.

The "round filter":

"AEV’s Pre-Filter Assembly is designed to draw in air, while separating rain and dust from the air charge. It is well suited for dry, desert terrain where this dust is likely. Used in heavy duty military and commercial vehicles worldwide, this rugged Pre-Filter is self-cleaning and will last for the life of the snorkel."

04Ram/Timgco...

Thanks fellas for the clarifications. I'm in for the round filter, I'm also assuming it's probably more than the standard 90 deg intake, which I'm ok with, well unless it's like $100's more. Moving the winch---yeah, that might be a deal breaker for me. LOVE LOVE LOVE their bumper, really the only one I've seen I 100% dig, BUT I don't want to move the winch. I want it tied to the frame structure, not cantilevered to the bumper. 1. That mean the bumper is going to stick out quite a bit more than stock which waylays app. angles. 2. The load transfer from the bumper is different, and typically ends up being transferred by the bumper bolts, and I'd have to see it in person and measure the assembly and do a statics analysis to see what happens to the static load.

On the AEV Website the Pre Filter Assembly for the JK (round filter) is $130, so I'm going to assume it's close to that for the Ram. As far as the bumper goes, it's as stout of a bumper as I've seen, and if AEV is putting 15,000lb winches in that bumper for the CTD, I don't think moving the winch for the Power Wagon would be a deal breaker for me. It's the $2,500 or so price tag plus whatever its going to cost to have it coated with Line-X that is currently the deal breaker for me, I'm just not sure I want to spend that much money on a bumper.

I agree with this 100% I understand why there isn't a big selection of bumpers that don't require you to move the winch being the Power Wagon is not a high production truck. I'm really considering making my own bumper and model it after the factory bumper but make it out of steel, make it much stronger and shorten it up so it doesn't stick down so far and angle the bottom so that if it hits rock or something solid it would be less likely to dent. I just need the time to do it maybe after planting this year

You've got it guys if I get time to do it this year I'll finally start a build thread on my truck and show a step by step of building the bumper. Then if you guys like it we can see about what direction to go would be best for you to get one like it. I really like the idea of a bumper modeled after the factory one but shorter and much stronger.

Really nice job AEV. They do a great job. Too bad their stuff's so damn expensive, makes it out of reach for most folks, which turns those AEV jeeps into a yuppie mall crawler---$100K+ for a jeep, please.

I agree- the Jeeps are expensive. However, now that they have parts for the Ram I'm pretty encouraged. I'm not planning on a lift anytime soon, but I like the idea of the wheels and the Snorkel along with a pinch taller than stock tire. I think for me that would round out what I want to do with my truck. I like the bumper, but I'm not in the market for a $2,500 or so bumper right now.

Yeah I thought (wait, I know) my Jeep was expensive, too. Especially considering how freaking cheap they really are. But, now that I am pricing out Ram power wagons at nearly 60 grand MSRP (before any discounts and incentives), its hard to call them cheap either!

And to put it into perspective, if AEV ever offers a power wagon package with a cummins swap, lift, bumpers, snorkel, wheels, tires etc. it will be a shit ton over 100 grand too.

Well you can get a SLT for far under $60K for sure, and you definitely don't want a cummins in a PW. There's a good article on the subject when the question always comes up "why doesn't Dodge put a diesel in the PW", I'll post the link when I find it, but the essence is the length, intercooler, and weight are all in opposition to the PW's mission, and provides little upside and a lot of downside. If you want a Diesel, order a 2500 cummins Tradesman (comes with a manual transfer case) with the 3.93 rear end & off-road package, swap out the bumper with a winch compatible aftermarket offering from any of the numerous reputable suppliers, add an on-board ARB compressor & air lockers, change coils from linear to progressive, swap the shocks to Bilstein 5100's, add some additional skid plates, change the tires, add a 2" body lift, and you've got a diesel PW. :poke:

I've yet to see a Power Wagon for $60,000. The most I've seen is around $54,000 which was for a Laramie, but that was before any kind of discounted price. In a way I'm glad they haven't offered anything for my 2012 in the suspension department, all that will do is save me money. However, I could always take a look at Carli or some Thuren Arms and throw some 35's under my 2012 along with some other AEV goodies and be set. More than likely I'll just throw some 275/85/17's under the truck with some AEV Rim's and maybe a snorkel and call it good.

Well, you can get a tradesman for even cheaper than that. I dont want one of those or a SLT, I want a laramie and many of them are nearing 60 grand.

And trust me, you dont have to explain to me why the wagon dosnt need a cummins. I think that would be almost pointless also. I was just trying to make things apples to apples (if that is at all possible here) that with a motor swap (like the Jeeps) it would be very expensive.

I have seen several. But you probably havnt been shopping for a loaded laramie for several months either. Every time I build a laramie like I want, the MSRP is over 59 grand. That is with basically everything though (sunroof, rambox, dual alternators yadayadayada...)

Dennis Dillon Dodge had two of them on their lot a few months ago for around $54,000 after dealer discounts (I don't think they had the Ram Box). Heck, my truck back in 2012 stickered for $52,000 or so and I think I paid closer to $48,000. It's just a matter of where you shop. But no, I haven't been actively shopping for a new truck since I bought my 2012. Heck, my truck should be paid for in two or three months, and that's a whole hell of a lot nicer feeling to me than a shiny new Laramie Wagon.
