DamageWagon wrote:The idea of putting a 6.2l engine into an SUV makes no sense to me, but neither does towing with one. More speeds can be a good thing, but also can be bad as well. For most folks adding gears is a great idea, but the additional shifting indices more heat from a performance standpoint. Usually not an issue, but there's a reason many diesel guys with newer trucks are dropping in the older 4-speed trans. I think the 5-speed in my truck will be a lot more enjoyable when I get a tuner on it and firm up the shifts.
You would have to drive one I guess. It just floats along effortlessly. Always in the perfect gear. Always has plenty of power left on tap. Tows like a raped ape. Has all frikin sorts of interior space (got the XL). And gets 20 MPG quite easily. Works well for us.

Lol, I'm sure he meant in power and fuel efficiencies only! ;)

My 6.2l would outrun the wagon all day long, but never handled the weight as well...

No, it has 308 pounds more payload than my wagon. Thats how i know for a fact it hauls it better.

I'll take a 3/4 ton pickup with 149.5" wheelbase over an SUV any day for towing. 308 pounds of payload doesn't mean jack. Towing vehicle length, wheelbase, weight, suspension design and frame rigidity do.

Gotta agree with DamageWagon there olyelr, the 6.2L is nice and all, but you're still towing with a half ton at the end of the day. Been there, done that.

I think you missed my sarcasm in that last statement Damage.

I totally agree with you guys. I too would rather have a 3/4 ton truck for towing, hence the reason I sold the Jeep and bought one.

But, Im just saying. I have towed with her Denali XL and my PW, and I shit you not her rig handles our 7000lb TT just as good as my truck. Actually, power and tranny wise it is probably better. And with the auto-air shocks in the back and weight distribution hitch, it flat out almost handled the trailer better than my truck. Just giving my first hand experience here.

I still feel better having a 3/4 ton frame and drivetrain, though, for the job. There's just no compromise for weight and strength.

Dang that's awesome. Hopefully Ram catches up haha. And maybe for the 5th gens chooses a serious engine and transmission, instead of a Hemi...

And I did miss your sarcasm buddy, the 7-38-55% rule says I'm missing 93% of what you're telling me
