Just pressing the button, or do you have to hold it for a bit?

I think learning how to counter steer and how much gas and braking to apply at that oh shit moment is important. So far I think the human brain is still smarter than the nanny controls and I'm unconvinced they can help me. Admittedly I have to pay attention to my driving every second, I'm not one of those people that can say wow how did I just get home, I don't even remember driving. My unconscious is a complete idiot so I scan with military precision. Now if the nanny controls start keeping us between the lines then I might go for it cause right now a pretty girl can cause me to drift off the road.
Hey, growing old is inevitable and there is nothing we can do about it, but it doesnt mean you have to stop having fun!Low_Sky wrote:I love how much this thread is encouraging grown adults to behave like children.
Is this long press supposed to work in 2wd? I haven't looked into disabling the esc much beyond just pressing the button but I don't get any warning after a long press about it. Tried a couple donuts out in Johnson valley last weekend and was disappointed. Like olyelr said, soon as I turn the whee the abs starts going nuts. Only time I get an ESC OFF message is when shifting into 4 low. My solution is. Going to be to pull the abs fuse. The damn abs is so intrusive in the dirt even with traction control "off."Low_Sky wrote:From a stop, it's a 5-second press on the button. You should hear a chime and get an "ESC off" message on the dash. In "ESC full off", the truck will chime going into and out of park as a reminder.olyelr wrote:Well damn. We got the snow. But i cant do the donuts![]()
Press the button and the tires can spin to your hearts content, but as soon as you start your ever so perfectly executed slide the frikin front tires start braking and straighten the truck right out. I held the button for what seemed like 7-10 seconds but that didnt change a thing. Whats the trick?!
On a side note, i am very impressed with how the truck handles on snowy/slippery roads.

ACBoomer16 just did the mod, maybe he could try a frosted donut and let us know.
The 3G's will become the new pre 64's PW's. The '05's and '09's the most wanted. The '05's because of it being the first year, and the '09's because of the most HP from the 5.7 Hemi. You guys and your damn dinosaur trucks!

You're kidding yourself. This is like when the YJ owners tried to convince the TJ owners that YJ's were going to be a valued vintage. The fact is the Gen 4/4.5 (especially 4.5) is a better vehicle engineering and quality wise. Daimler just about ran Chrysler into the ground; quality under Daimler was absolutely terrible. It's true there were some options available in Gen 3 that are not available today but that doesn't make the engineering or quality better. One of the philosophies under Daimler was profitability increase through reduction of material and quality cost (this appeared in financials); FCA on the other hand is maximizing profits via quality control claim frequency and efficiency. FCA is intentionally building better vehicles to reduce cost...and it shows in every metric available through the supply chain. That is not to say RAM is perfect, because it has a long way to go, but 2010 and new vehicles are quantifiably better.RustyPW wrote:The 3G's will become the new pre 64's PW's.
