Juday, as a Colonel, I'd say I'm about as diametrically opposite to being concerned with "bro" status as possible. With that being said, I just put on the new Nitto Ridge Grappler in 37's when my Duratracs hit about 30k. I'd hit Duratravs again if they made them in 37", so I was looking for a comparable tire. I seriously narrowed down to the Toyo RT, Cooper ST Maxx, ko2, General Grabber, Patriot tire, Safari AT2, and another (MTZ?) that I can't recall right now, but settled on the Nitto for price, specs, design goals, and the Toyo RT feedback from here and other forums I've reviewed. The Nittos were a greatttttt deal I got from Discount Tire as a promo rollout for the new tire, too good to pass up, so I went with them over the RT, based on price, for what I perceive is a nearly identical tire in construction, weight, & specs. Check out the thread to read more.

Ever heard of Kanati tires? They have a very close replica of a duratrac that they call the trail hog. Have em in a 37, too. 10 ply, 65 PSI tire. What little I have heard about them has been good...

I know a bunch of guys running those up here. Say they are about as good as duratracs but man are they loud on the asphalt. I can always tell when the one fellow is coming to the job site. Lots of road noise. But cheap.

I have Toyo AT2's and like them. However I was far happier with the performance and ride of the Yokohoma AT2 tires. So once my Toyo's wear out I'm going back to them. They will however do nothing for my ego.

Haha, I got spoiled with the 37 Yoko AT/s tires. The Hankooks I have now are like Flintstone tires in comparison. Actually have debated selling them and getting another set of Yoko's. Yes, the Hankooks look much better and obviously do better in boggy stuff but the Yoko's got me anywhere I wanted to go and were quiet, balanced great and rode smooth as silk on the hwy.

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

I had them on my 05 PW. Happy with them but they were a bear to balance.

That's the trade off though will. More aggressive tires ride harsher. Depends on your usage too. If your gonna be strictly highway and the odd dirt road then you don't need a tire meant for aggressive mud or dirt or rocks. Hell I would run the bfg krawler just cause it looks cool lol. But would be hell on the highway

I understand all of that, these generate a mild hop between 45-50 mph and I've adjusted the psi all over the place trying to get them to stop. I have to run them with more psi than I want to make the hop less which makes the ride rough. I thought a tire was out of round but just by lifting and rolling, they're not. Not sure if one or more has a soft spot in them but no way to road force test them. O well, I'll run them down and try something different or go back to the Yoko's. There's not many tires I've ever ran more than one set, I guess I like trying different tires.

Hi,

I'm running a set of 37's on my 92 and a set of 35's on my 07, I can attest to the cost, as I bought my first set when tires were through the roof, like 2gs.

Other than the cost, I have no complaints, run quite for a mud tire, got 48,000 on my first set on my 07 and got a new set for winter, this spring I put the originals back on and got another 15-20 thousand on them, figure I should get another 5000 on them before they are banana skin MT's. And just in time for winter.

Whatever tire you get rotate them and you will get more mileage out of them.

Regards,
Jim

Has anyone tried these : http://patriottires.com/ ???

They really hype them up as specifically being designed for big, heavy diesel trucks & towing. Say they are made of a harder rubber compound for longer life.

Someone else here was asking about those tires.

Pretty much that way with all tires. Never understood that, although i guess its a supply and demand type thing.
