My 545 had a sprag failure. Reverse was very slow to grab, and would drop out and grab again pretty regularly if I didn’t have throttle on it, but held strong if it had a little speed to it.

I dislike the thought of pulling a trans. I also think that once you’ve ridden in a truck with a built trans you’ll truly appreciate it. I think a built trans is about the best thing you can do for a truck, if you are going to throw money into something you enjoy. If it’s worth $6+k to you is the question.
