70MPH Vibration on 2016 PW
Re: 70MPH Vibration on 2016 PW
Gonna jump in on this too. I noticed a very slight vibration on a 6 hour drive couldn't pinpoint the exact speed range and just assumed it was the road. Wasn't earth shattering but enough to get my attention. This week I swapped out my stock wheels for a 17X9 and remounted the duratracs. I had the tech rotate them when he put them back on. That vibration is pretty significant now in the speed range you guys are talking about. Gonna play with the spare on the front two this weekend to see if I can pinpoint it. Seems like if the vibration was slight before but very noticeable now...one of those tires previously on the back could most likely be the culprit.

What olyelr said. Mine did the same. One tire was real bad.

First time poster. Just wanted to chime in. Got a brand new power wagon tradesman with about 450 miles on it. No mods. Drives great up to 70+ or so then a good steady vibration coming up through the seat. Not disturbingly bad but very noticeable. Taking it to the dealer soon as I get back.

Duratracs have a pretty big following with the Jeep crowd. I dismounted mine at 470 miles and sold them on Craigslist for $900. Between the wheels and tires I almost completely paid for a set of 37" Toyo RT's and KMC XD's. No shakes, no vibrations, just perfectly smooth quiet driving. Thank goodness for "it's a Jeep thing"!olyelr wrote:Its the durashakes.

HA! I know what you mean about the Jeep following... I wonder if the shake/shimmy these have is mainly just with the 285/70/17's? I never hear of any Jeep guys complaining about weird vibrations from them.

That's because Jeeps will have weird vibrations even if it had racing slicksolyelr wrote:Reloaderguy wrote:Duratracs have a pretty big following with the Jeep crowd. I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

I would think a slight imbalance would be even more noticeable/shaky on a vehicle that is half the weight.
And Will, you are right... I think the majority of Jeeps clank/rattle/bounce around and a little vibration at a certain speed from a tire would most likely go completely unnoticed. And, since the PW drives around like a caddy, a little wobble is obvious.

The imbalance may not show up with so little weight on the tires. Road force balancing comes to mind.

Re: 70MPH Vibration on 2016 PW
Just checking back in. For me it was just a matter of balancing the tires. Rides great now
