If it weren't for the color (black) I don't think I would even consider going from the 13 to the 16

You don't want to take it out. Just readjust some of the parameters to your liking.

If the color is that big of a deal then just do it. You will probably get better mpg with the '16 if that is any consolation. Otherwise I suspect that in most daily driving you aren't going to notice a lot of differences between the two. I suspect the '16 rides a little better too.

I've actually been thinking about that myself. My truck is paid for and has less than 35,000 miles on it, and I'm really starting to regret buying a white truck. I'd really like to have a truck in the Praire Pearl Color, but I'm not sure I want to spend the money to have a perfectly good truck painted. I'm not sure what the cost would be, but I'm going to guess a new paint job is $7,000. While that would be a lot less than buying/financing a new truck, I'm not sure I want to make that kind of investment.

What makes you regret white?
Every spring I have the truck professionally detailed because after winter each year I get little yellow spots behind the paint. I live in an area where they use de-icer, and even though I wash my truck regularly, it's always a PIA to keep clean. My wife has a white Honda Pilot, and we get the same little yellow spots behind her paint each winter too. After having this truck for four years, I'll never own another white vehicle. At least the white hides little scratches from hunting season pretty decent, but I'm still wishing I would have bought a different color.

I've seen some pretty decent wraps and even plastidip for changing the color of a truck in a non permanent way.

I love my mineral grey, I very seldom wash it, only difference that makes is the bottom strip stands out and the truck shines. The fender flares are faded but match the paint and it hides scratches and hides really good in the dark....many think a black vehicle hides better in the dark but it stands out the most through night vision...

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

I like Silver and it hides scratches well. The bad thing about Silver is matching it if you have to repaint something. I have been told that Silver is the hardest color to match. I have always liked White and that was first choice if I would have purchased new. I can understand about the rust if you are in a state that uses Mag Chloride regularly, that stuff is highly corrosive. It does it for any color you just notice it more with white. My favorite Powerwagon color is Sagebrush. Dodge/Ram only did that color for a year or two, but it was a great color.

Like women buying shoes. I don't like the color of my BMW, but the price was right and I've had it for 17 years. When it wears out, I'll get a different color. And if you are actually concerned about hiding a black truck from night vision, I don't even want to know why.

After work I actually stopped by one of the most reputable auto body shops in town and asked. He said off the top of his head without doing a formal quote that a new paint job on my truck would run $5,000 - $6,000 and take about 30 days to do it right. I think the price is fair, but I hadn't given a lot of thought to the time table. I don't see myself doing this, but the shop was around the corner and I know the owner really well so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

That estimate doesn't include the $5K to $10K loss in equity if you ever decide to sell the truck.

I thought yours was a Gen 4, 2013 model....

If I had a Gen 3 I personally wouldn't trade it in on a new one with the 4:10 gears. The only reason why I waited and got a Gen 4 was for the crew cab and extra room for the family, otherwise I would have found a clean Gen 3 PW.

Have you thought about waiting and getting a 2017? They have the new wheels with different grill and the going back to the retro Macho Power Wagon look is awesome.
