I agree with the bigger tires "holding" things in place, seems like the majority that has DW have stock size or similar. I didn't realize my ball joints were that bad until I forced them up, I've checked them a could of times lately by grabbing at 12:00 and 6:00 and trying to move them but it took a 5' bar to really jack it enough to see how bad they really and they were popping when I moved it up and down. I got the goody of em, thats for sure.
Bad u-joints or a bad steering box will do the same thing.

Bumping this as I have been putting it off due to life being busy.

Have new tires on the way (AT2's) and plan to have the BJ's and universals done when I get my tires mounted and balanced (labor covered by warranty).

So.

Carli or Dynatrac, decided not to go OE as I don't want to deal with BJ's again lol. I will be doing the spicer universals from George.

Right now I am leaning towards the Dyna's unless someone can tell my the carli's are that much better.

I've had both over the years, you probably can't go wrong with either, but the Carli seem better engineered and finished to me.

Do not get the Carli. Shops here that have been selling and installing the carli joints have been fighting tooth and nail to get warranty. Carli is being a stink and refusing warranty on all kinds of trucks with their ball joints. With Carli when you use the warranty you are required to buy a full new set. And you have to completely remove the balljoints and install new ones. Then you send your old ones back and Carli may or may not refund the money you spent on the second set. Going through this right now on an 05 cummins that has never gone off road. They are claiming excessive abuse. I just did a rebuild on my dynatracs and am very happy with them. One of their machined pieces was not correct size wise by a few thousandths which is extremely uncommon. They sent me a replacement rebuild kit no questions asked. Even after I fixed the one that was a hair too large.
You cannot rebuild the carli and have to completely remove them. You would be better off buying moog balljoints with real lifetime warranty which are greasable and you remove them take your receipt and get a new set for free. Buyer beware with Carli. I've learned my lesson.

I've had my Carli's in for a few years now. They're still tight. Never had to replace them. Hopefully never will have to,

I went with Dynatracs, hit a bad washout, bent the entire front axle housing, replaced the axle assembly, pressed the Dynatracs out of the old and they were pressed into the new and are solid as a rock. Can't ask for anything tougher.

Man nts007, it's strange how different our experiences have been with Carli. I haven't had to warranty anything with them and I can't speak to what you're dealing with up there but I've always been treated great by them.

You seem like a straight forward tell it like it is kinda guy, so I don't doubt you, but it's almost like we're not talking about the same company.

Back on topic, my Carli joints are still good and tight after breaking a trussed axle and driving home on the outer edge of the front tires lol.

I like my Carli joints, smooth as can be. Dynatrac is good as well.

I wish it was just me up here and I could just be deemed crazy. Carli has been very difficult for 3 other guys I know. All slightly different reasons but it's always been the same customer service conversation. Maybe we don't spend enough so we get swept under the rug. I could see one balljoints warranty maybe but not 3 different trucks with 3 different owners in a 6 month span. All the same story. Carli took their money for the new set and found 'something' to negate warranty. Not greased with approved grease was one. Another was over abuse/off road use......on a truck that only was used on highway.....? Both guys fought with the shop that sold them and installed em. Shop told them contact Carli. One guy coughed up the cash for a new set then didn't get reimbursed. The other yelled enough at the shop that the shop ate the cost and then Carli refused to warranty it for the shop. The other fellow. Balljoint warranty refusal. No reason. Just bought a new set. Installed. Sent the old ones to Carli. 4 months later. No response. No refund. No contact. And to be honest after what I had to deal with concerning shocks I'm done with them. Maybe if you're in the states they care. If you're in Canada and haven't spent at least 5 grand$ then you don't matter either. I sure felt like they didn't give a crap about my issues. And all the extra costs I incurred trying to get warranty on shocks I could have bought a good set of 2.5 kings from thuren and been done. At least now after rebuilding them myself a couple times and dealing with a fantastic fellow at bilstien things are better for now. Sorry for the rant guys. Not trying to derail.
Dynatrac was super fast and easy to deal with. While I was doing my rebuild on the joints I phoned them directly about the one joint being out of spec. Literally within 15 min they had an order prepped with a new rebuild kit and it went out the next morning. It was already prepped before I even sent pictures or anything about the issue. That in my mind is the kind of service I expect as that is the kind of service I give my customers. If I didn't I wouldn't have a business.

I'm in favor of the $100.00 option. They have replaced 3 sets, soon to be 4 at that price on my truck in 90K.

With the Lifetime Maxcare warranty I'll let Chrysler change mine over and over again for the $100 deductible. 4 sets in 90,000 miles is horrible though. I guess so far I'm lucky, I am around 47,000 miles and the originals on my PW are still in good shape.
