Funny video. Wonder what that motor would make with stock cart iron manifolds?

I just put on the K&N CAI today and will probably be taking it off. It definitely feels snappier, but the induction noise is too intrusive with the air box just under the passenger windshield wiper. It bothered me some but I was going to ignore it, but my wife got in and said no-way. We pull a trailer fairly often and I'm afraid it would be like a constant foghorn on long trips.

I had one on my SRT Superbee and it sounded great, but the intake was up by the headlight so it was just a sweet growl.

My stock intake makes enough noise to bug me, I can't imagine the K&N would make me happy at all.

Only K&N and there wasn't a lot out there, I ended up getting mine from Summit for $305. Took about 45 min. to install but will probably only take about 15min to take it off today since I don't have to take it all the way apart like it came.

Their dyno shows a 16hp/24tq increase.

The problem (aside from noise) is if you look close at the dyno chart you lose power at lower rpm's where you spend the most time and gain it up high where you are rarely at.

Oh man - sorry to hear that the noise was unacceptable - others have expressed concern about the noise of the K&N intake. Let me know if you plan to sell the intake. :D

I'm also looking at the 87mm polished TB...

Want to get all the pieces together before I get the I2 tuner...

I looked at the chart before I bought it to make sure the losses were minimal. The most TQ increase shows to be between 2700 - 3700 which I consider usable range in a gas truck.

It's definitely getting sold (say'eth the wife) if you're serious but I'll probably try a local Craigslist ad first.

Before I took it off I wanted to test some sound deadening ideas. The thin metal K&N air box seems to act as a resonator or speaker box because I tucked pieces of moving blanket all around it and went for a test drive. The sound was almost back to stock. I also threw a piece over the open top of the box that semi seals against the underside of the hood. This quiets it down noticeably also.

I think I'm going to get real sound deadening mats and do it right because I really do want to keep it on.

Then it will be time to take the wife for another ride.

Why did K&N do the dyno run in 2nd gear? 1:1 is 5th.
