It is supposed to help prevent axle wrap, the 3G 1500 SRT1's had them, and all the 2014+ 2500's Hemi's have them

The fact that they went back to the goofy front axle disconnect would make me seriously reconsider buying one of these. I understand its to improve on MPG but why not just do this through some factory free spin hubs instead like Ford does? It would kill two birds with one stone, get rid of the crappy unit bearings and increase MPG while making the front end much stronger. Are there really that many people out there who buy these that are to stupid to understand how to lock hubs?

I'm afraid the answer to that is yes. A lot of that is because you're seeing more and more vehicles that are either all wheel drive, part time four wheel drive, or have an auto setting for the four wheel drive system. For 90% of the people some sort of auto setting works perfect. For me, I'd much rather have the handle on the floor so that I know when the truck is in four wheel drive.

Sadly that is the case. I say put the manual hubs and do away with the CAD for the PW tho. Just makes sense for its intended use and would either keep the yuppies from buying them or even better once they can't figure out how it works then they trade it in so we can find hardly used low mileage PWs on the lot for a lesser price!
