Having experienced the TRE failure first hand, I'm surprised they have waited this long to make it official. I'm lucky to be alive - mine failed at slow speed. The previous weekend I'd come over a local mountain pass at 1:00 AM with speeds over 50 thru tight turns. If it had happened that night, who knows where I would have ended up.
I'm just along for the ride...

The last alignment I had done resulted in the drivers side outer TRE being cockeyed. I noticed it before I left the shop and disputed it with the tech. I made him adjust it back to vertical. Felt better knowing that both sides were dead straight up and down even though he said it didn't matter. Still going to go get mine checked out even though I will have to make a day of it. Doesn't really give me a good feeling wondering when the failure will occur.

My N62 recall says after 6 Jan. so I made an appointment for the 7th but they said they couldn't order the L/tie rod end now. DOES ANYONE HAVE/KNOW WHERE TO GET THE DETAILS OF THE RECALL ie what the techs are suppose to do. Or could some one tell me how to inspect mine. I'm going on vacation the 11th and would like this taken care of.

There was a pic on DTX a while back of the new tie rod end. It just has an alignment pin so you can't install it cockeyed.

I've never gotten any kind of recall notice on my 2012, but others with a 2012 model have. Is that odd to anyone?

The way I understand it is-if it was installed correctly you don"t need a new part. How do they check that it was installed correctly ?

I have a 2005 and yet to receive a notice, is this something I should call the deal ship about?

I have an 05 with 08.5 steering installed by the dealer about 3 years ago. I received my notice today. It looks like they are picking their way through all of us. I would give it a few more days. You can't schedule an appointment till after Jan. 6.

You can have mine...HAHAHA! Seriously the dealer will "SHIT-NAILS" when they see a Thuren DTRE & DL combo under the truck. Piss on it, unless they can reimburse part of the cost...fat chance of that! At least the truck is done right...

Thanks for the link to check. I'm on the list for the N62 recall (left tie rod). I called my local dealership and they told me what to look for if i wanted to check for myself but to bring it by any time they are open they can do the inspection in the service drive up for the bean counters. If it needs the repair then they would order the parts and let me know when they were in to schedule the appointment to get it fixed. I still have not seen a letter but i am the second owner of my PW so not to surprised.

So they are replacing the solid tie rod and stabilizer clamp with a tie rod with a hole in it and stabilizer with bolt on end of shaft that goes thru tie rod to mount... I get the suits saying the clamp will loosen and it isnt as safe but in our world of heavy use offroad wouldn't it not be as strong? Im debating even taking it in for the recall... what if I'm planning on the carli mount down the road?

Yeah, I got the recall notice in the mail the other day. Anyone have a picture of what it's supposed to look like, so I don't have to waste my time driving to the dealer?

OK, I was wondering what was going to be replaced. My truck was just inspected and the dealer has the parts on order. The service guy that drove the truck up for me to pick up said something about the flate plate for the stabalizer bar. I guess I must be going to ge t a new stabalizer too then? I just recently put a new one on!

If you have the small u-bolts attaching the stabilizer to the tie rod it is supposed to be replaced
