As much as I love off-roading, I tow trailers quite often too, which makes me glad I have leaves on my 2013 PW. I get an even compromise between the two. Maybe I'm just ignorant, but it seems kind of weak for hauling. I'm sure it's great for off-roading. I guess we'll see ...

Should flex better with that setup. Not sure about towing either but our leafs are pretty soft now too!

I'm curious why so many of you have issues with the BFG's? I had a set on my 08 F350 they were the E rated not the D rated we have on our PW's but I had 70,000 miles on them with out issues of any kind. This truck had a full Reading work body on it and pulled a trailer 80% of the time. I'm not saying you guys haven't had issues with them. Just curious.

I think the sidewall construction is different from a D to an E. Sidewall flex contributes to, but is not the sole cause of, death wobble. That is why people who have switched tires after experiencing death wobble-like symptoms have seen improvement. They removed ONE possible contributor.

Let's face it, most guys are just looking for an excuse to buy new tires after close to 40,000 on the same old tires!

In my humble opinion BFGs are great on hard pack and they make my truck ride like a Cadillac on the road. They also do just fine out on icy/ snowy roads. But out hunting last month despite my ample driving skill  I was a slave to the ruts in the mud... once in the ruts unlike other off road tires I have used in the past it took some doing and extra strain on my steering to get back out. I cannot speak to their longevity as on my last PW I had KM2s on it from day one, but they do seem to be an alright all around tire... had I got stuck while hunting though it would have been blamed on the tires certainly not the truck or my bitchin skills as a wheel man! At my job we use Duratracks and the performance is matched to the BFGs except in mud from what I can tell. If I had duratracks out hunting my experience with them at work tells me the ruts would have been tamed much easier (sidewall grip) plus they are studdable for us Wyoming guys who like to making sparks when we do burnouts!

a big contributor to 40k bfg death wobble for me was offroading. my bfg's were missing chuncks of tread and when 40k hit, they threw the truck into dw. new set of bfg's and i was good to go. people complain about the bfg at's but i think they are a pretty good tire considering most stock 3/4 tons get highway tires slapped on them from the factory. there will never be a one tire does all. each one has the good and the bad...and the ugly!

The stock BFG's are horrible in the mud(will not clean out at low speed) and hold on to a lot of rocks until your going fast enough the come loose and chip your rockers. Not to mention the death wobble isuues I had with them too at low tread depth. My family is worth far more than $900 set of tires. I was bear hunting this past spring and could not turn out of the 2'' ruts in the mud with both axles locked, they were gone 2 weeks later!

I think it all depends on what you do with your truck. I don't do a lot of mudding or rock crawling, but I do contend with snow and ice come winter. So far my BFG's have been decent with the exception of rotten snow, but tire chains help with that. The Toyo A/T II looks like my next tire, but that may be a bad choice for somebody else.

I have the Toyo AT II on my 2012 diesel ( I originally put them on my 2010 6.7 they came over to the 2012 when I bought it.) and they seem to do ok. I have around 45,000 miles on them and they look to be about 30 maybe 40% tread left. They do much better on a wet road than the stock tires that came on the 2010 truck. I went up a size and picked the Toyo's for better wet road traction mainly. With the stock tires on the 2010 truck I had a very bad wet road experience. I was running 65 through west VA and when I crossed a cement bridge in a slight curve the rear tires broke traction and the trucks rear end started to come around. I counter steered out of it but that was the day I decided to change the factory tires as soon as I got a chance. I will have to look and see what the stock tires were on the 2010 I don't recall off the top of my head. Any way back to the Toyo's they seem to do ok in snow not great but ok. The seem to do ok in what little mud I've had the 2012 in. I know that they will rip all the grass off of a spot there they slipped if they slip even a little bit so they much be biting pretty good. I will have to see how many miles I get out of them I expect no less than 60,000 out of load range E tires. The firestone steal tech or how ever they were spelled used to give me the most mileage out of load range E tires I would routinely get 80,000 miles and have got as high as 94,000 miles out of a set but they don't make them any more. Just thought I'd let you know how the Toyo's are doing so far for me sorry about the rambling.

You guys must have a different sort of road surface than here in GA.
I got 14K miles from my stock BFGs and they were below 5/32s". I'm running the Toyo ATIIs now and, at almost a year and almost 21K miles, I have to look at replacements. I'm below 6/32s" and they're starting to spin a bit too much and I'm losing the rear in turns when it rains.

KM2 is a horse of a different color.

But I've never gotten that sort of mileage from any tire on any vehicle. Road surface aggregate, twisties, temperature fluctuations, weight, skinny pedal ---- lots of variables on tire wear.

Couldn't agree more...stock tires and mud led me to breaking the drivers side mirror and ripping out the factory step side. They're also pretty terrible in snow/ice

I agree KM2's are a horse of different color, but I expect to get about 45-50k out of them at least. At 33K I have some pretty good chunks missing but none of the issues I ever experienced with worn BFG AT's.

All I've read/seen is late availability. That being said, I'm kind of curious what the hell is going on with the Ram lineup and the 2014 Power Wagon.
