 I have thought about axle skids as well. Get some 1/4" walled tube of proper dia & cut it in half down the middle & have the proper sized u-bolt clamps welded to the inside after each section is cut to length.

 Got an email from Jason Bruce at AFE. He said they have not made one yet for the AAM 10.5 PW rear diff, but he said that he has turned the matter over to their design team for review and potential production! :excited:

I wrote back and told him that if they made it, there would be a whole bunch of Power Wagon owners who would buy one! Let's keep our fingers crossed!! :winchmob: We'll keep after 'em until they get some more PW worthy parts on the market!

Yeah...I don't know how to set up those polls.....I am sure that most all of us on here would get one. They would certainly get back whatever they put into design and production, plus we could all do some great testing for them!!

To do a poll would require a new thread. Let me see if I can do it through Tapatalk.

I tried to make a new thread with a poll, but no dice. Leif, is that a permissions limitation?

I'm going to talk to my buddy tomorrow who is a welder/fabricator by occupation. He's done a ton of custom fab and welding on his project CJ that he's hoping that I'll trailer to Rausch this fall so I'm going to see if we can possibly come up with a prototype on my truck. If he thinks that it's feasible then I'll post up pics and maybe he can produce them if the AFE guys can't

Also, as a back-up to AFE, I will see what the guys at Iron Pig Off Road could do to fab one, also. Whichever one we choose, we should get photos of the designs or prototypes and post them, so that we can decide which to go with. Then do a group buy?

Hopefully AFE will make one for us becuase I took a look and didn't really see a good way to mount it. I have seen some that mount behind the diff cover you just put longer bolts but I don't like those because on a hard impact those would probably damage the threads and give you a leak.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. The one I had on my Ford 9" diff from my old CJ did use a bolts mountedcinto the diff, but with the actual skid plate finishing off by attaching to the yoke, near the driveshaft, it ended up being really strong. It took some pretty good hits when I ran it in my Jeep.....if we find a design similar to that, we should be well protected. I know it will have to mount a bit differently, but one of these places should be able to come up with something! Hell, it ain't rocket science! I'm gonna find someone who'll make it for us!

Yep...same guys.....they don't have their front diff guard on their website, for some strange reason. However, they do make a front diff one. I wrote a guy on their contact list to get the ball rolling. I'll probably give him another day to let me know if they are going to make what we want or not. After that, I will probably call them. If all that fails, I'll talk to Iron Pig and see what they would charge and if they would work with us on the price point, if we do a group buy. I'm teaching a course all of this week, so it will be catch as catch can to make calls, etc. I can devote a bit more time to it next week.
