When driving straight I use a sharpie to mark straight up and down on the steering wheel and I park with that mark dead in the straight position. Then adjust the drag link until the steering wheel is straight. Takes a coulple marks but works well

Centering the axle as you did may very well allow a collision between the coil bucket and control arm bolts or whatever sticks out the most in that area during compression. Remember, the axle moves in an arc through the compress-droop cycle. On a PW, or other Ram with lift, the axle will be shifted to the drivers side at static height because when you compress the suspension it will move toward the passenger side. The correct way to set the track bar, if you are not using the provided dimension, is to put it all together and cycle the suspension fully to make sure parts don't collide.

Good point. I forgot the axle travels in an arc. Maybe I should've left the track bar alone like the instructions said.

This turned out to be a great thread! Thanks for all the helpful info!

I used a spring compressor on the skyjacker d25 springs I installed in my cummins 1997 2500 truck. I'd be surprised of these springs are any worse as far as size and stiffness but I could be wrong. Doesn't sound like much of an issue as the needed droop can be achieved by loosening the sway bar and track bar with some careful attention paid to electrical harnesses and brake lines.

Yeah , on the track bar, Thuren has it at Max when he sends it to avoid interference. Might want to check and make sure you dont have any issued with anything hitting at full stuff. Hope to get to see some pics : )

Okay I used google to host the images and made them bigger, let me know if they don't work.

Also I spoke with Aaron from Thuren today and he said adjusting the track bar longer than 39-1/16" (pre set length) will result in the coil bucket hitting the track bar frame mount under full compression. I don't want that so I'll set the track bar back to Thuren's spec. The factory bar I removed also measured 39-1/16".

This would only be the case of Don figured it out within the last week. It's doable, it just requires a fair amount of fabrication on the factory mounts.

I can't find the post but there are some guys on CF running them. As I recall the front fit fine, the back too work.

2015 Front Spring/Shock Swap

Post by yellowranger1 » Mon Apr 03, 2017 6:01 pm

@Reloader if you do find that, please post a link to it. From looking at shocks I have at home off my ranger, a 3.0 could fit up front, but would likely crash I to the frame in the rear since they go into that frame pocket. That's just eyeballing it, haven't done any cycling or measuring. I'm going to get under a friends 2500 ctd that has a carli kit with 2.5 kings front and rear and see how tight it actually is.

Like I said, good amount of fab work is required. 3.0's require heim bearings. Even putting a pintop on a 2.5 is scary and the force available in the shock can outrun the pintop bolt strength. You have to fab in a bracket to run 3.0's with the bearing and you would need to reinforce both upper and lower shock mounts. This is all for the front. For the rear I don't know but assume major beefing and cutting off factory pintop mount just like the front.

Reloader if you want 3.0's on your truck I'll make them work when I get up there, within the realms of reason.

Picked up truck today and put about 80 miles on it, highway and city... What a difference over stock.. ride and height... rear track bar makes the truck feel more planted... worth the upgrade in my opinion...

You have one of the nicest, well rounded truck's on this forum. I'm pretty jealous of your wheel/tire combo.

Just installed Thuren 0.5" lift coils on Furiosa. For future reference, all I had to do was undo one sway bar bolt, both lower shock bolts, and the brake line brackets. I did one side at a time, didn't even have to take the tires off. The 0.5" coils are shorter than factory so they were an easy fit once the stockers came out.

Shorter at ride height, or shorter when the springs are out of the truck?
