Diff lights didn't turn off.

Post by Hunter87 » Mon Mar 27, 2017 1:57 pm

Went and winched my brother and a buddy or of a mud field this weekend. Went to unlock the diffs and couldn't get the indicator lights to turn off. I kept checking, driving in circles, and though I was pretty sure the did we unlocked it was still scary taking it out of 4 lo with the lights on.
Drive the truck again today and the lights are still on. Though it drives didn the road normal.

Any ideas or advice before I take it in to the dealer? :cash:

Water in the SmartBar connector. Probably shorting the sensor wires. Disconnect the connector on the bar, clean with electronics cleaner, add dielectric grease and plug it back in.

If that doesn't do it, pull the connectors on the diff housings and do the same thing.

Well that's likely it, it's been wet. Excuse my ignorance but where is the smart bar?

It is the swaybar for the front axle. It sits right underneath the radiator. Since I'm doing an oil change right now...

Tapatalk is stupid and won't let me upload videos. The gray lever rotates to the left. Press the little black tab down that keeps the lever from moving, then rotate the lever left. It may be sticky and you may need to work the lever back and forth to get dirt out of the mechanism. Then the whole connector comes straight out of the smartbar housing. Be gentle with it, it's expensive.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate the photos. If you get a call from a 530 area code it's me under my truck trying to find it.
