Upgrades?

Post by Hunter87 » Tue Feb 14, 2017 5:50 pm

As far as performance upgrades go, where would/did you guys start? Below are the mods I've been looking at.

AFE stage 2 intake ($325)
Muffler ($150)
Diablosport from hemifever ($599)
Airam power wire ($50)
Fastman throttle body ($250 if I send my throttle body in)

Just not sure where the best bang for my buck is.

All interesting stuff, but not very off-roady. Nice for a mall crawler or cruiser, but won't much improve the performance that the truck was built for. How do you plan to use the truck?

Yes!!!! This!!!! Lol. The tuner might be the only thing you will find useful there. These trucks aren't meant to be speed demons. And they make plenty of torque

Thanks guys, the truck is my daily driver and my hunting rig. Probably won't need to much more in the of road department in the near future. I was more seeing if any of these bolt ons worked well on power wagons specifically.

It all depends on how much extra performance you want and your budget. After answering those first two questions, I would recommend talking to someone from a reputable shop that specializes in Hemi's, such as Arrington or High Horse performance. You won't see any significant power gains from just a single modification. If it were me, I'd start with an aftermarket muffler and the tuner. The tuner can boost the power slightly on a stock motor and any significant modifications(cam, headers, etc.) will require the tuner to be take full advantage of them.

Aside from the drivetrain stuff, I highly recommend the Carli front-differential guard if your truck will see any off-road use, as the front-differential is the lowest and front-most point underneath the truck. Mine has been hit more than my skid-plates and rock-sliders combined! Rock-sliders are a great idea as well, if your driving would warrant them.

Well,I can't really say with data on paper but even w the stock tune and 37's mine goes quite well for a bigger girl (at least I think) I just have:
Y pipe
14 inch Magana flow
Mopar cold air intake (was on truck at dealer).
With traction control off and a good hard mash she will leave two strips... especially on a slight turn.
I would like a Hemifeaver custom tune but I am nervous about messing with it too much. Candyass I know!

Looking at this it seems like a very good idea to put one on. I plan to take the truck places my previous 4x4's couldn't go while hunting. Thanks for the tip.
