Two vehicle recovery

On Saturday morning Im out looking for a surf and I pull up to have a look at the ocean here at Hueneme beach and I can see something not quite right for 7:00 am. (thought it was a homicide,,,,,) DA hood! There is a squad car and several people kinda standing around. I see a 2WD escalade on 22's buried to the frame 40 yards off pavement. Then I take look better look around I can see two kids standing beside a Tacoma (not a TRD pre runner) that is on the high tide line and it is stuck and stuck good. I ask the officer who is calmly standing there with his hands in his pockets (45 deg is kinda cold for us) what the plan is and he tells me there a tow truck has been called. I tell the officer that although the tow truck will get the escalade out whats the plan for the truck way down there? A slight shrug of the shoulders is all I get. Trying not to come off like THAT guy I mention that I have a power wagon with a winch. The cop just smiles and says "Its up to you". Now the guy with the escalade is perking up as I learn that he is the uncle of the driver in the taco AND that the kids took the truck for a joy ride last pm without permission.
I have helped people where the escalade is several times but this was different because the officer has now given me permission to tool around on the beach. I book it back the the rig, air down the Toyo RT's a touch..37 and 33. (kinda like that feel so I'm leaving it there for a bit ..) Put a little game plan put together in my head and tossed surfing gear in the cab.
I wanted to document the thing but I knew there was about 1.5 hrs till high tide and I did not want to break anything so I decided to pay attention to what was going on around us and worry about the pics some other time..
The Escalade comes out with a decent amount of go peddle and a nice little tug. Bingo! One down one to go. ( here I was reminded that no stone should be left unturned. I told the guy the game plan and he seemed ready but did not mention to him that his parking break should not be on!!) My bad i guess. I did notice that the thing did feel kinda heavy.
Now for the taco. The officer and I picked out a extraction path with the idea that he might make it if I can get him to the hard pack sand and he gets on it and stays on it!! I hand the kid a shovel from the bed of the PW and tell him to get busy. I pull out some cable use a D ring to my Factor 55 put a wetsuit on the tight cable and she is out of the hole and all is well. ( tide is now threatening ) I replace and secure with cable back the PW up and connect the tow strap to the D ring. The plan was to just get him pointed in the correct direction and let him have a go of it. Well, about ten yards into it its easy to tell that that thing is stopping in its tracks the second he is unclipped and I start to think that when he gets stuck on that sand incline over there its going to put a lot more stress on my rig than anything thus far. We start putting along and out the window I give a good yell and the old water ski or tube thing hand gesture for were are going around together! The turn was a bit wider than i was hoping for ( although it was safer because I had made a mistake and to checked the path well enough. Logs were in the way from Escalated guy!!!!). Lesson learned. Now Im on it pretty good 3500-4000 k in first and 4hi. The guy was not in my tracks so he is causing the rig to kinda walk a bit sideways as we come along the side of a dune with uneven ground. The Kings and Thuren components are feeling GOOD and I just hold her there and stay on the peddle!!! Right as we are coming to hard ground I see a tatted up Homie w his iPhone screaming some very colorful vocabulary about how the PW is the baddest thing he has ever seen!!(should have asked for footage). dumb, oh well.
The guys were pumped and offered a fair amount of cash but I declined it and was just happy it went off without a glitch! Then the best part as Im packing up and the officer, who still has hands in his pockets kicks the front left tire of the rigs and says "Well, I know what kinda truck Im getting, great work man"!
Fun!!!!!!!

You made everyone happy except for the tow truck driver who wanted a big payday. Good story.
