Check ebay. I usually come across parted out trucks on there and they typically have the fog lights up for sale.

Since you need to replace one of the factory fogs, you might just look at the plug-n-play LED replacements that I posted earlier from Vision-X. The factory Hella fogs are pretty good, though, and should offer a lot of bang for the buck with the 9011/HIR1 upgrade. I'd just start calling junk yards for another one.

Thanks. Pics are helpful, but since they are rebranded for NAPA, the P/N only works for NAPA. I had that discussion with them last week on some Swenco connectors that were rebranded for NAPA, at about four times the price that Swenco charges. But, NAPA had them right now and Swenco needed to ship from 2,000 miles away.

got ya. Well at least this may help cross reference. IIRC the corvette used these bulbs in their high beams. Possibily the current one but I'm not for sure. I know they are using HID setups for the Lows

GM started using that setup around 2004-2005 in cars like the Escalade and the Yukon Denali with quad headlights, HID low beams and halogen high beams. I think that's because it takes a while for an HID to come up to full temperature/brightness, and when you hit the high beams you generally want them on right now, so halogens work better for the highs. On some GM vehicles it is complicated by the fact that when you turn on the highs, the lows go out, so if you have a slight delay at 70mph, you are moving at about 103 feet per second with marginal lights. I have three older GM products right now and all have been converted (with a Painless Performance relay kit) to keep the highs and lows on at the same time. My old SUV has HID kits in both high and low, and my old truck has HID lows and halogen highs. I think I prefer the truck setup, with 100W halogens in the high buckets. If these Philips 9011/HIR1s work out in the PW, I may use them in the other trucks for high beams. That's how I'm rationalizing spending so much time on bulbs. Either that or I'm just a dork.

Yeah, a junk yard. I cracked mine a few years ago and when they told me $180 (which replaces the entire thing, not just the lens), I hung up the phone. I found one at a junk yard for about $60 a while back, but never got my lazy ass over there to take it.

Here you go. From what I've seen, this place seems to be the best deal around for lights. http://www.headlightsdepot.com/parts/Au ... headlights
Don't think you'll find it anywhere else for less than $32.95. And it's a brand new unit.

You'll fall just short of the $39.99 free shipping mark though. But heck, $66 for 2 brand new units is a lot better than $180 for one! Anyone know anything about the Perde bulbs they sell on this site? They come with Lifetime replacement warranties.

They also seem to carry Phillips bulbs on the site, but I cannot find the 9011 or 9012's. Their search kind of sucks, unless you're just searching by vehicle model.

I don't know anything about HeadlightsDepot, but at those prices I'd guess the product is from China. The PW fogs are made for Dodge by Hella and are pretty good lights with good lens and reflector design and nice cutoff. I'd be inclined to get a factory replacement from a junk yard just to maintain the Hella quality.

I had to have a new set of fogs put in my 2000 Dakota and my 2004 2500 while under warranty. They were $260 a pair then !!! They filled up with water & blew out when i turned them on. On my 08 PW, i said screw it & just drilled 2 small holes in the bottom of each housing, just in case water got in, it could get out. I do NOT want to pay $260 every other year for new fogs. Had to do the same to my Suzuki DR650. Turn signals would fill with water from condensation. One new bulb housing was $56. I drilled the holes in the bottom & no more problems. No problems with this truck either.

BTW, I encouraged my friend Scott to swap the bulbs in his Grand Cherokee to HIR and then measured the output.
Short version ---- it was the highest LUX that I've ever measured from any headlights at my markers. I was VERY impressed.

Yea the hir's are a great little known bulb. Everybody keeps thinking they want hid's but don't realize that in stock setups they are worse. In a projector they are good but in reflector they send light everywhere but the road. I once was dumb enough to have a pnp hid kit. Boy when I got smart and swapped back wow did my lights improve.

Plus, the color rendering index with HIR is about 99% and in the low 70s with HID.

I would agree. If you can find any, in decent shape. I would definitely hope there would be a very noticeable difference between a $180 German unit and a $33 Chinese unit.

I replaced the headlights on my wife's Odyssey with units from Headlightsdepot.com and Sylvania Ultrastars (was weary of the Perde's since I'd never heard of them). The quality of the lights seemed to be identical to the stockers they replaced. The visual light output is downright amazing! I don't have a pic of the old lights in action, but I'll get one of the new ones soon.

Probably true, but you'd think the manufacturer could actually provide a part number.

Why is it that none of the parts stores I have tried around the Los Angeles area stock much Philips product? Also just called a big Toyota dealer and they don't have any 9011/HIR1s in stock, even though some Toys use that bulb. It's a conspiracy to keep us all in the dark.

P.S.: Just called the largest Toyota dealer in the country, and their parts department knew nothing of the 9011/HIR1. Did I just imagine that some Toyotas use that bulb?

Every parts store I went to looked at me like I was crazy when I first was looking. Even the employees at napa look at me funny. Only 2 of the guys actually went into the system to find the parts. Also John Deer is supposed to stock them. From what I have read most of the new tractors that dont have HID are using HIR bulbs instead. I know they have them in the system but are labeled something else. Hard to find but once you do then its easy.

Some of the big companies have social media managers and good customer contact professionals ---- some would rather just cater to the professional market.

As for stocking bulbs that actually perform well and don't have associated marketing hype, think about the retail industry. They have sales people who don't know squat selling to a general population that knows even less. They're going to sell what sells --- bling bulbs. Blue-coated nonsense, shiny stuff, stuff with buzzwords and glitz. They make a very very big profit on Silverstars and PIAA and can sell the crap out of them. So what if they don't work well, right?

GM dealers usually stock HIR bulbs. I really like to buy from people I know and trust though. Professionals.
I buy from Candlepowerstore, Daniel Stern, Susquehanna Motorsports. At least when I talk to these guys I talk to people who know what's going on, not just what they saw on a commercial during a football game.

I like Susquehanna, and most of my non-LED lighting over the last 15 years has come from them. If I can't get a straight answer from Philips, I'll just tell Susquenhanna to ship me whatever they have.
