Hopefully buying a PW soon...

Post by 2202bblx2 » Sat Oct 01, 2016 2:59 pm

Hey guys.

I'm looking to buy a 05 to 10 (prefer 07 to 10) wagon sometime soon. I just need to sell my house first.

I'm looking for a truck with a manual and less than more options. I'm finding some with about 100,000 miles and up for a reasonable to me price. Some have more miles and are waaay cheaper.

Is there anything I should look out for?

My end goal is put a super charger on it and other less evasive mods most guys do.

Thanks

BTW, I have a 1976 D100 8' step side with a 440 4 bbl and 833 OD (Started as a 318 auto with a regular bed) and a 1974 W200 with a 318, 4 speed and PTO that I'm trying to sell.

Make sure the lockers, bar and winch all work. Those are all prone to electrical problems that an owner that doesn't use them won't know about.

Look under the truck for scratches and dents on the frame and skip plate for indication of whether or not it's been wheeled hard. That shouldn't be a deal breaker, but it's probably something you'd want to know about.

Thanks, but I'm in Canada and need to sell a house first.

What are other common Ram related problems? At what milage do things start to wear out like wheel bearings, u joints, engines in general and electronics?

2008 is the last year for a stick. On a quad cab. The wiring harness to the rear doors have a habit of breaking a wire at the door hinge. So make sure that the rear door widows and door locks work. 05 to '07. The blend door in the heater box sometimes break. Make sure it still has a winch. People will remove the winch and winch mounts and sell them separately. You can no longer get the mounts from Dodge. Check the tie-rods, drag link, track bar and ball joints to make sure they are tight.

Not sure what Province you're in but check Alberta Kijiji, thats where I bought mine from and there are usually quite a few there for sale. Mines a 06 with 460km now, been a great truck, engine original and still going strong. Had another high mileage Hemi that gave me no issues. Pretty much check what other guys said,. Here's a stick in B.C., not a bad price but rebuild status due to theft

I'm in BC now. I've been searching all of western Canada. I want to avoid Manitoba and east due to rust.

There seems to be a wide variety of prices pending years, miles and conditions.

Wikipedia is saying 2010 was the last year... it's never wrong...

I've searched Craigslist, Kijiji and few other pages too. I think I've seen most that are available in Canada.
