Rear locker light flasbing
My 06 pw has a rear locker light flashing after the truck gets warmed up running down highway. I think its been covered before but does anybody remember what seems to be cause of that?? Lockers wont engage when its flashing even when i put into 4lo..

Re: Rear locker light flasbing
If you don't have the bypass. You need to put it into low range. Couple of things come to mind. Connection plugs at the smartbar, or the rear diff. Bad smartbar, or rear locker.

Re: Rear locker light flasbing
Ive owned this for 7 years. I will be running down highway in 2 wheel drive and the light starts flashing even tho the knob was not turned. So i will get to work and drop it into 4 lo and it will not lock with S curves backing or going forward.. ive cleaned plugs and used a little dialectricgrease and yet it still does it.. going to dealer tomorrow night since my extended warranty expires on the 17th of october..

Re: Rear locker light flashing
When a similar thing happened on my 08, it ended up being a loose connection at the C137 connector above the parking brake pedal. It looked like it was good, but when I tugged on it, it came apart. When I plugged it back together, it resumed normal function.
It's the white connector with lots of yellow wires with colored tracers. This connector is inline between the dash switch and the smartbar.
I hope this works for you as well!

My 2012 is doing the same thing. Flashing when knob is in the unlocked position and wont lock at all once turned. Sway bar works fine. Is the sensor at the top of the rear diff a part of this locker config? Thanks for the picture above, will check that next.

Re: Rear locker light flasbing
I had to lock both axles on my '05 a few weeks ago to get out of a ditch, and after that I had periods of locker lights flashing and "SERV 4WD Drive" on the dashboard. Those lights went away but the "4WD" indicator is on permanently, even in 2WD. Everything seems to be working OK except the indicators.

Re: Rear locker light flasbing
I believe connector C137 only applies to the 3rd gen trucks. You would have to look it up in a 4th gen service manual to confirm. I think 4th gens have a connector out below the passenger side hood hinge, just follow your smartbar harness.chrisjameswagner wrote:My 2012 is doing the same thing. Re: Rear locker light flasbing
Was hoping it is something simple. Thanks.Transfer case position switch for you.
Re: Rear locker light flasbing
Same exact thing for me. Ended up being the rear locker actuator/tone ring. Everything had to come out of the rear axle to replace it. Bolted to the ring gear, it was.(Yoda) Mine was covered under Lifetime Powertrain Warranty, but i had to bitch & complain. They played the word change game with me. Changed them to solinoids & sensors & said, sorry, thats not covered. I went to the Owner & said "It says here in my warranty that ANYTHING inside the axles is covered & it is inside the axle. They did not like it but they covered it. Bill was $4780.00 give or take, i think. Took them 3 weeks.trucker799 wrote:Ive owned this for 7 years. Re: Rear locker light flasbing
Climbed under to look at my smart bar and was able to turn it about a half inch back and forth (to front of truck and back of truck). Thoughts on if that is normal?
Also, how does one remove the sensor/wiring? Cant seem to figure that out and don't want to break the connector...
Thanks in advance.

Re: Rear locker light flasbing
got the same issue. I have the 08 but notice on the lifetime warranty you have to take the wagon in for powertrain check every 5 years from date of purchase. I haven't done this so I might be screwed. Anyone else in my boat?
Re: Rear locker light flasbing
I've got the flashing light but no warranty.

Re: Rear locker light flasbing
Yes, same for me, every 5 years to keep it in effect. They told me, there can not be ANY leaks in ANY of the powertrain components. If there are at time of inspection, you have to have them fixed in order to keep warranty in effect.Wardenmac wrote:got the same issue. Thats why I gotta fix my stick shift gear lever boot before my next inspection, before 2018.
