Tonneu or Toppper

Anyone try these:
http://www.softopper.com/dodge/softopper

or similar? Also considering
http://truxedo.com/lopro/land.php

Need something to protect normal stuff (suitcases, shovels, chains, golf bags, FR coveralls, boots) but fold back for the dirtbike or hopefully a camper some day. My Chevy had the factory hard cover, I had a Extang on my Dodge with the snaps, and it was PITA (2002 vintage).

I have the truxedo lopro qt. Its very nice. Everything is locked up well and stays Dry for the most part (minor seepages around tailgate, which lets a little water dribble onto the bed floor). Then, in a matter of 10 seconds it is fully rolled up into a small ball up against cab and i have full use of the bed.

If i didnt have the rambox i may have gone with something different, as i would have some type of tool box up against the cab.

But i would buy this one again, thats for sure.

I am trying to decide the same thing. I have looked at the Soft toppers but I would likely have mine up 6-8 months out of the year during winter (I hate shoveling snow from the bed of a truck). I think I am just going to go with a fiberglass shell for that reason alone... also because it is lockable, able to carry my canoe on top, and I will really only NEED to take it off on very rare occasions. I really like the idea of the soft topper and would buy one over a tonneau cover. I have had tonneau covers in the past and never liked them much. I think they look better on a truck, but the soft topper / cap offer so much more useable dry space. Plus, if you have a dog or two, it is a no brainer.

I know a couple of guys that have Rollnlocks and they like them.

Might be a good option to meet all needs. I had a topper and also had a bedslide, I wasn't about to have to climb in there to get stuff, the bedlslide allowed me to get to everything in the bed from the tailgate.

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

The next item on the check list for me is the Softtopper. I like that route because of the utility:
Good enough for cold or wet sleeping accomitations off the ground.
Going to have a removable split shelf for boards, rods and tackle boxes under and flat large sleeping area on top.
Put some sturdy Thule racks on the roof and it will be easy to carry bigger sup's and kayaks because it can be folded down.
Fold it down and pull shelf out and Im back truck mode for whatever.
Some might worry about lack of security w soft top. While it may be a concern, the fact that the rig is kinda high w 37's and coils and shackles so just reaching in over the bed rail is not that easy.
Soft topper looks great in safari mode as well!
Price is not horrible.
Light weight.
If I could pick a hard shell I would prob look at the Caravan truck shell out of Reno Nevada.
Lots of great stuff out there!
Good luck

Those Caravan shells are super sweet. I would hate to know what they cost though. $3000.00 plus??? $4000.00?

Think they are even more than that if you get all of the options.
The other type that I would consider is the Callen type camper.

I have a tonneau cover and Bestop Supertop. Most of the time I have the tonneau cover on and only use the Supertop when I need extra room, which is usually for family tent camping trips (I also have a fifth wheel camper). For many years I used the Mopar soft tonneau cover http://www.mopardodge.com/accessories/d ... onneau.htm. Recently switched to a hard tonneau cover, an Extang Solid Fold 2.0 http://www.extang.com/solid-fold-foldin ... vers2.html. I preferred the Bestop Supertop because I like having windows so that I can still see out the back, at least when its not packed full https://www.bestop.com/dodge/2006/dodge ... length/78/

I am very limited in my options, because I have a Transferflow 30-gallon refueling tank/toolbox in my bed which eliminates many of the possibilities for me, but these have worked well for me.
