Dang... I'm impressed... I've got about 14K on my 37x12.5 Nitto Trail Grapplers and I'd be surprised if I get another 14K out of them... Not wearing evenly at all and I keep em rotated every 4K... Not bad riding tires though...

Unrelated to this post but what part of GA are you in shacke? I'm in Lilburn and rarely see any other wagons around...
In the Canton/Woodstock area up 575. I have seen two (2) other PWs in this area, but they are certainly rare.

Love my K02's!

I started a thread here not too long ago, about a slickdeal' I found at Sears that had an entire 35x12.5r17 set installed on my wagon' for $980 with an additional $100 cash back. Granted, I purchased this truck with 3,000 miles on it and the original owner tossed the Duratracs for KO's ( ), so I can't really compare the factory tires to these. Honestly, these KO2's excel in practically every condition I use the truck in, but the original KO's were absolutely terrible (IMHO) if that says anything. 35's seem to be the perfect 'all around' size for this generation PW, and the load rating still matches the trucks towing capabilities, so its a win-win all around. Very little road noise as well, which was another plus with the K02's.

That is surprisingly low mileage. I have had two sets of the Nitro mud grapplers. Started out with roughly 15k miles on OX when I bought her and within 5k miles of owning her I put on my first set of mud grapplers. I just turned 97k miles, and recently gave my second set to my daughter with roughly half of the tread left. I would not have thought the mud grapplers would get better mileage than the trail grapplers... Dang.

I never go over 65 mph, so I wonder if high speeds affect wear that much?

BFG KO2 Thoughts

Post by bdk » Fri Sep 09, 2016 8:39 pm

Aired down my tires to 48 psi last night but they look a little low and the stupid low pressure light is on so I think I'm gonna take them back up a few pounds. At 48 psi they measures a little over 33 1/2 which is a little disappointing but it's probably for the best, i did it mostly because the 285's just looked too small and I'm really pleased with the look of the 315's. Towing performance shouldn't be affected much and I still think it will give me a better 70-75 mph cruise rpm, which was the other goal. The tires ride really nice and are very quiet so overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. I'll try to update this thread as I put miles on the tires and encounter different environments

Do you still have those tires on?
Are you still happy with them?

I'm thinking of getting a set myself.

I have trail grapplers on right now. Do not like them. Half worn at 25k km. Rotated every 5k km. Horribly squishy compared to pretty much every other tire I've used in the last 6 sets. Air them up a bit and it goes rock hard and twitchy. They do not tow well. They are only ok on gravel and ok in mud. I would never buy them again. If I didn't get them for half price I would never have done them. The cooper st maxx is way better all round. The hankook dynapro mt is far better in mud. Neither of those two chipped out this bad on gravel and both lasted 70k+ km with tread left.
Also the trail grapplers have a horrible left radial pull and it doesn't matter which tire is where. First tire I've had that pulls like this.
08 ctd--mini max--thuren 3" coils and LT Leaves--4.56 gears and lockers in pw axles--some lights--afe intake system--bd super b turbo--Banks w/m Injection--Dynatrac Balljoints--king 2.5"s--37" Hankook Dynapro MT--DOR Long arms--Custom emf track bar--Manual T-case swap--Full PW Under armor--PSC Hydro Assist and so much more

Nitto Trail Grapplers were the cheap tire that came on my wifes 15 4 Runner. They are ok, far better then many other stock tires. But not a stand out. BFG is far better

Wha? You buy it used then? Toyota doesnt even put an A/T tire on there off road packaged small vehicles anymore, let alone an M/T.

I've had mine for a week and they are way quieter than the Duratracs. Seem to do fine off road, already loaded them up with mud (unintentionally).

Its the TRD Pro. The only one that gets you a tire for anything more then the mall.

Yeah, I thought those new ones come with some lame passenger type tire. Definitely not Nitto Trail Grapplers.
