I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

Re: AEV Ram!
I've seen more than one 4.5th Gen with the bow in the springs (there was a member on here a couple of weeks ago with a similar picture). It may be normal (not sure, I'd like to see a few more owners comment on how their front spring looks). Will wrote:The second picture doesn't look like it, still looks bowed to me. Is it me or do the AEV wheels not look that great unless they have large tires on them? I love they way they look with 37s and 40s on them but they are underwhelming with a 33 or 35 on them.

Re: AEV Ram!
I think they are appealing to the guys who "have" to have a Cummins and want a power wagon, but "have" to get a diesel because "dodge gas burners are crap". I see a lot of that here locally with airmen who get back from their first deployment and blow through all that tax free money on a Cummins and a lift.Mule wrote:AEV had a booth at Jackson... Mine's a 16 and I've got bow on my springs too. I don't do any rock crawling; and since washed out creek beds are the places I need articulation so I doubt it'll be a problem for me.04Ram2500Hemi wrote:I've seen more than one 4.5th Gen with the bow in the springs (there was a member on here a couple of weeks ago with a similar picture). On the trail I'll take the crappy dodge gas burner over diesel anyday. Less weight and faster response to the skinny pedal and brake pedal.

Re: AEV Ram!
My '16 has bowed front coils too.
I actually prefer the 6.7 Cummins to my 6.4. My last truck was a 2014 that had the 850 ft lb Cummins, and no doubt about it, I liked that engine far better than the 6.4 I have now. Not that the 6.4 is a bad engine, its just kind of boring with half as much torque. The new 900 ft lb Cummins are likely even better than my 850 ft lbs Cummins was.
I don't use my truck for rock crawling, or even for other serious off road use that isn't rock crawling (I have other off road toys for that). I use my truck for back country exploring, and I like the extra 4x4 capability if I come upon a difficult spot like a washed out road, or similar. Having the lockers and a winch are good security measures, and I've used them countless times in prior vehicles over the years. The swaybar disconnect, articulinks, and coil rear suspension don't mean so much to me. In fact, I prefer rear leaf springs in a truck.
I've been thinking of going back to a 3500 with rear leaf springs when the '17s come out. The AEV Prospector is interesting to me. Adding an ARB locker to the front differential, and keeping the rear limited slip would make for a decent back country exploring rig for my purposes. And it would do a better job of towing my enclosed trailer that hauls my more serious off road toys. The one thing I don't like about the Prospector is that, if anything, it is too big. It looks like a kid's truck, with more lift than I need, and bigger tires than I need.

Re: AEV Ram!
AEV has two kits- one for 37" tires, and the other is for 40" tires with their wider fenders. I love the looks of the flatbed on 40" tires that AEV has, but I agree 37" tires would be more than enough for me.MoparToYou wrote:My '16 has bowed front coils too.
