Holy F, seems like some springs, tires and wheels and a stock PW could be just as "cool" for $20-$30k less.

Those prospector packages add about $15-17k depending on the extras.

Curious why it says 4.10 gears are an "upgrade". I thought all new PW's came w/4.10's ?

Just a guess but you can get a Cummins Prospector and 4.10s would be an upgrade option.TwinStick wrote:Curious why it says 4.10 gears are an "upgrade". I thought all new PW's came w/4.10's ?
Re: AEV PWs On Dealer Lots
And lockers! I can see the AEV on a diesel. Hard to justify on the gas when the PW is such an affordable factory option.

Re: AEV PWs On Dealer Lots
I don't see the point of converting a Power Wagon into a Prospector, even if you're trying to get a truck with lockers. The Power Wagon already has a good winch, so you lose the factory installed winch to add a somewhat bigger winch. You also lose the Power Wagon suspension, to change back to regular 2500 suspension with AEV spacers. And you're still left with the Hemi engine. If you're going to build a Prospector then start with the better Cummins engine, and add you're own lockers.
I'm having a Prospector built right now. I started with a 3500 CTD Mega Cab Laramie that I ordered on 4/21/16. Ram shipped the truck to AEV on 6/3/16. I just learned today that it has completed final assembly, and will have inspection completed and be shipped to my dealer next week.

Re: AEV PWs On Dealer Lots
Look closer- the sticker says not included. I think the AEV sticker is a standardized sticker for all AEV Prospectors. Basically the lockers/gears are under the standard equipment, so there's no extra charge on the far right of the sticker.TwinStick wrote:Curious why it says 4.10 gears are an "upgrade". Awesome, congrats. Are you trading in the 16 PW for it? Also the winches are identical M15K's, we've speculated a lot here why it's derated to 12K on the PW...it's either the cradle or lawyersMoparToYou wrote:I don't see the point of converting a Power Wagon into a Prospector, even if you're trying to get a truck with lockers. Re: AEV PWs On Dealer Lots
Lawyers. The m15k and the pw 12k are identical right down to the power amperage draw. Then Chrysler put on the low voltage cut out and thermal cut out. Same frame. Same cable 7/16. Same planetary gear set ratio. Same motor.
As far as the aev stuff I'm still not keen on their product. Some of their stuff is ok but to buy a 'set up' ram from them is just asking to spend more money than it's worth. No offence mopar I get where your coming from for your setup but doing an aev powerwagon using their system seems like 4 steps backwards

The lockers and gears are not standard equipment. They would be an extra charge if they were included in the package.04Ram2500Hemi wrote:

Re: AEV PWs On Dealer Lots
I agree, the AEV Power Wagon makes no sense. An AEV Hemi makes no sense either, just buy a Power Wagon. I think it makes sense for the diesel though, at least for part of the truck market.nts007 wrote:Lawyers. The m15k and the pw 12k are identical right down to the power amperage draw. Yes, I'll be trading in the '16 Power Wagon for it. I am pleased with the way the Power Wagon held its value. I paid $51K for the Power Wagon, and trade in is $47K. I think that is fair.adeluca73 wrote: Awesome, congrats. Are you trading in the 16 PW for it? Re: AEV PWs On Dealer Lots
They are standard on the wagon which is why it's not on the cost sheet on AEV's form. If they put lockers on a non Power Wagon Ram, then there would be an additional cost. AEV's form is for every Ram they build, which is why on a Power Wagon they put not included in the price category because they did not have to charge for them.olyelr wrote:The lockers and gears are not standard equipment. Thanks for the picture, love that Granite Crystal color, with the black bumpers and wheels. That is what mine is going to look like, except a mega cab, and a big chrome C on the front fender.
