Wagon was at dealer for recall fix, So I test drove a 2016
My 2012 had to go in for the steering column air bag wiring recall fix. While it was there, I test drove a 2016 for the heck of it. I gotta say, I LOVE new the bright blue color!!!! Got a trade in value for mine just for fun-
$11000, LOL! So, I guess I'll be hanging onto my 2012 for a loooooong time! (wasn't planning on trading anyway, was just curious to drive the new one!)
Is it just me or do the 2014+ sit higher than a 2012? I swear the new one sat higher than mine does even with my Carli/Thuren mix lift! No wonder guys are shoehorning 37s under stock 2014+!!!

The new truck smell is intoxicating right until the point where they bend you over with no lube in regards to your trade value. At this point I don't see me trading my 2012 with 36,000 miles in on anything. Maybe after the new body style if Ram does something cool, but after seeing multiple issues with the 2016 model 6.4L Hemi, I think I'm good for now.

$11000?!?!? That's a crock!!!! I just traded my '11 with 67k miles for $26k!!!!!! Then after the deal they found out that there were only 3 other PWs in the state. So they sold it at a premium. If you're serious about trading up ask you dealer to find another one.

I'll put it this way... it has "personality". 58k miles, first wheeling trip was with 114 miles on the odo.olyelr wrote:Im gonna take a little shot in the dark here, but im guessing your truck is a little beat up![]()

They asked me if I have frame damage and I had to explain that the truck has never been in a car accident. The one Jeep guy knew what I was talking about though, LOL!
Okay, strictly speaking it has been in one sort of car accident, somebody backed into my tailgate in a parking lot and drove off (I never saw them), they probably assumed with all the trail body damage that I wouldn't notice.

Re: Wagon was at dealer for recall fix, So I test drove a 20
I traded my 2012PW for the 2016PW. Got $27,500 with 51,000 miles. That was after the deduct of $1500 for a torn up rocker panel and a deduct of $1500 for the lockers not working.
I also kept the factory incentives and returning customer credit.
The 2012 is really a better truck. You're better keeping it!

That's all they offered for a 2012? I turned down 13K for my 07 in Jan. when I bought the 16.RAM4ROKS wrote:My 2012 had to go in for the steering column air bag wiring recall fix. Re: Wagon was at dealer for recall fix, So I test drove a 20
When I bought my 15' I ran into a guy with a 12'. My truck definitely sat higher than his. As far as issues with a 6.4 hemi I wouldn't let a few folks on the interweb who "hear a knock" draw my conclusion on the reliability of the 6.4 so quickly.
Re: Wagon was at dealer for recall fix, So I test drove a 20
For those questioning the trade, well.... let's say this:
My truck has no dents on the front fenders or the gas filler door; I am sure that is true of many prospective trade-ins. The only problem is, my truck DOES have dents on ALL the other body panels.
No offense to those with newer rigs but, I'd rather have a 2012 than a 2014 in every respect but two:
I do like the 2014+ engine displacement. I would love to have a bigger engine in my truck than what is in my wife's car. (Yukon XL Denali so, 6.2L)
That bright blue color is absolutely gorgeous! I don't think it was around in 2012.
I just found it amusing to drive a new one and see what they'd offer for my old one!

Re: Wagon was at dealer for recall fix, So I test drove a 20
Hi guys, I'm new here... Going to be picking up my '16 PW here in a couple weeks (dealer is out of state, gotta get a break from work to pick it up). Can someone post a link to a thread with some of the issues with the 6.4 hemi? I tried searching on here but maybe I'm using the wrong keywords? Trying to soak up all I can on this thing so I k ow what to expect, I've read about a noise/vibration when the mds kicks in on the highway but want to see what other potential issues to lookout for.
I'm pumped to finally be getting this thing! Glad I found this forum, lots of good info on here

One of my business partners has a 2015 2500 non-PW with the 6.4. He's put about 25000 miles on it already with no issues whatsoever. We are in construction, so his truck gets used pretty hard. Towing a 12000 pound mini excavator on a 2000 pound gooseneck trailer will test any truck. I never put a gooseneck ball in my '11 PW so I wouldn't be tempted to try it. I will say that my truck with 4.56 axles will outrun his stoplight to stoplight, but the 6.4 is a beast, even with 3.73 axles.

My loaner for service is a brand new 2500 CTD megacab long bed. That's been an eye opener. Gotta be over 160" in wheelbase. First time I"ve driven a new CTD - it's a monster... The PW is faster off the line for maybe 20'.

Re: Wagon was at dealer for recall fix, So I test drove a 20
I do have to admit, I test drove a stick shift Cummins 2500 crew cab short bed before my Power Wagon. What a truck!!!! I would have bought it except my wife said no diesel and no stick shift. SO... if I was going to get a gasser auto rig, I wanted one with all the toys! (my Wagon) It has been an excellent choice overall, I must say!
Re: Wagon was at dealer for recall fix, So I test drove a 20
Well, the Wagon had to go in for more work. Both front axle seals failed (the driver's side to a much great extent than the passenger side), fortunately covered under warranty. Dropped it off Saturday morning, got it back Wednesday night. I gotta say, I miss the heck outta my Wagon while it is gone!
Gonna have to go in again soon, 60K mile service coming up in 500 miles.

Re: Wagon was at dealer for recall fix, So I test drove a 20
Hmmm.... seems it might be going in for a bit more. I'd wager I have an exhaust manifold leak, when accelerating just after initial start up, the truck sounds like my 10 year old push mover that's on its last legs. Also at idle just after initial start up, the "Hemi tick" is starting to sound more like a pallet worth of ball peen hammer heads tumbling down an all steel spiral staircase.
