Mine was made in September of 2015!!! I asked my dealer and he said mine was not on the list tho. It's been warm in Iowa since I got my truck so I guess I'll just have to see what happens this winter. Hopefully the previous owner had this taken care of or I got lucky and got a good engine.

so I thought I had this put too bed , truck has been at the dealer for nearly 6 weeks now fml ! they made a decision to only do a short block replacement and reuse all my top end parts heads , intake etc... I am not happy and Chrysler are set on this , dealer hd previously ordered me a full replacement engine and Chrysler will not allow them to install it . They have my original engine scrapped and in a thousand pieces looking for a defect in the wristpins and other areas and claim they can't find any issues but yet the thing knocks bad . I am beyond stressed with this now after 5 + weeks of Chrysler asking for measurements of all the internals and reviewing it this is how I am getting treated with a half ass rebuilt engine any suggestions on what I can do ? dealer claim its in Chryslers hands and if they install the complete engine they ordered it will not be covered under warranty even thought my truck only has 11700 kms on it .

Mine is undergoing the same procedure right now, build date aug-2014. Been at dealer for over 3 weeks doing measurements etc... I was told they ordered a new longblock which is fine because the remainder of the motor was in good shape. Will update when I get the truck back.

Tell them to pay it off and you'll take it as is, then put one of these in it, daily driver twin turbo 572 Hemi, 1250HP on pump gas

I am having no luck with this , they have a short block on order and are now going to forsure rebuild my engine with the shortblock using all other parts off my old engine , not pleased but I have exhausted all path and its there final decision and that's it .

With less the 7500 miles on the engine all the components are like new what wrong with reusing them on the short block?

The engine block with all internals is all that is needed, everything else is still new on your truck. A complete engine would be great but completely unnecessary.

that's not the issue , the issue is there admitting that they cannot find the source of the knock ! there talking a guess it was in the lower end even though all internal parts measured to spec . So basically there going to install a short block slap it back together and hope for the best . thus causing me more of a wait time when it does not work they have had the truck for 6 weeks , and now there just ordering the short block , another 3 week wait , then they need time to rebuild the engine and install it . basically my truck is gona all summer and I am stuck with a pos 1500 quad cab with no tow package or hitch , not too mention I have 3 kids and its a quad cab not a crew cab .

My shortblock came in from order to delivery in five working days. it takes 2 -3 days to install. I 'm currently waiting on gaskets to finish.

Stopped by dealership, and looked at invoice on motor order, it is indeed a long block, total cost with gaskets is about 7500+. Service manager waffled about short or long saying both but then looked it up and ticket said long block. Will take a pic of invoice when i get it. My gasket is supposed to be in on 7th so hopefully I will be squared away by Friday. BTW, truck looks pretty sad sitting their with no engine in her.

$60k on a new truck & this is how you get treated ??? TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE IMHO. The problem i see here is: now you have to put all your faith in the person who is rebuilding it. Do they REALLY know WTF they are doing ? How many times has that person rebuilt a Hemi ? Will they take the time to torque EVERYTHING to proper specs ? I wish you the best. Are they giving you a rental ? They certainly should.

I took my truck in for some extremely minor warranty stuff and was denied warranty because they indicated the truck was used offroad where it wasn't intended to operate lmfao. My issues were the winch cable pulled from the lug (they told me it snapped the cable like IDIOTS, fixed myself in 30 minutes), my bed has been shifted over since day one and I requested it be aligned with the cab (they told me it shifted due to offroading hahahahaha), and a bad tire pressure sensor (they told me they may have to charge me and after listening to the bull shit they spit at me I had zero faith and ride around with a faulty tire pressure sensor to this day). None of this meant anything to me and I actually talked to the folks at Ram who weren't any more help. They wrote me off indicating they have to listen to their "experts". I informed them that their experts were either incompetent and/or dishonest. Warranties are often jokes. I'd always either: 1) suggest going to a reputable dealership highly recommended by many with a track record of warranty work success; or 2) just living with whatever tiny issue you have until it becomes a very very serious issue. It shouldn't be that way but unfortunately it is that way.

I had a TPMS sensor got out on my truck awhile back and the dealer I bought it from replaced it no questions asked. Truck was dirty, had been used "off road" a good bit and I even left my Trinity tuner plugged in and on the A pillar. They didn't say a word about any of it, it definitely depends on what your dealer is like. The shop manager at my dealer drag races an old rat rod and always gives me compliments on my truck when I bring it in.

2015powerwagon, I feel for you on this issue. My 2010 ram 2500 with the 5.7 had an engine knock. My dealer pulled the engine apart and stated the cylinder bores in the block were out of spec. I ended up with a new short block just like you. I picked the truck up and the engine compartment looked perfect, like they never even touched the engine (I saw it torn down). Unfortunately, like your concerned about, 3 days later I see coolant leaking down the block. Back to the dealer and they pull the heads and replace the head gaskets. Apparently something happened during install.

Now after all this, the new short block knocked like the old one did. Pissed me off to no end. But the truck ran great, burned no oil and I drive it for another 20,000 miles before trading on my PW.

Now my 2015 PW knocks on cold start. The knock isn't as bad as my 5.7 but it knocks and I'm not going to do a god damn thing about. I'm convinced these engines are prone to knocking. I agree some engines don't knock at all but many do. I hope you guys with new blocks, whether short or long, have no more issues.
