Nothing special, I wanted a little more travel between the axle and the boogies so I got the 3" coils and rear shackles. If everything works out right, valving upgrade, rear Boogies and swaybar in near future.

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

No but I'll be back in there soon, I did a quick look for carnage. No pieces in the bottom and the oil looked really good for 80k miles. Medium to light translucent grey. Nothing even close to be alarming.

I ran into a guy that has a recessed digital alignment rack with all the rigging to bend and align the solid beams on tractor trailer rigs. He says, "They don't want you bending these axle housings because it may cause it to crack with a weak spot later but if you'll sign a waiver I'll put it on the rack, I'm not responsible if it starts leaking or anything neither." Well, I dropped it off this morning and told him to give it his best shot, I've already looked into the worst case scenario and I'm willing to try this first. If he can get it close enough, I'll weld on the truss and the tubes to the housing and the last option (which I really dont want to do) is offset ball joints to correct the camber. If he doesn't completely break it, I have high hopes! I need some good luck fellas!

Well I thought things were looking up. Got a call from the dude, he said he got it to dead zero camber on both sides. I go to pick it up, eyeball it and it looks great. Drive across town and everything seems good, already thinking about putting the truss on it this weekend. Then, I jump on the interstate to go over an exit and when I got over 60mph, the part I feared, the ring and pinion start howling. I was thinking, pull the gears and reset them. I get back to the shop and take a closer look and the housing is cracked. :( I'm pretty sure it's trashed at this point. I could weld the crack and continue but it's looking like a loosing battle.

Damn, sorry to hear that. At least you didn't put truss on it and develop a crack or something.

Well, after careful consideration and reaching in my pockets I decided to finally call the insurance company. Dropping it off to them tomorrow.

Here's what finally did it in, along with the screaming gears. If the gears weren't howling, I'd weld the crack and the tubes but something is out and its a $4k risk to try anything else.

In case someone wants a spare and has the cash or for whatever reason, I contemplated buying this used front assembly a couple of times but something told me not to... http://m.ebay.com/itm/2012-Dodge-2500-P ... nav=SEARCH

I searched EVERYWHERE and this is the only one I could find but it has a different part number than mine and I didn't bite.

Me old truck is out of my hands now, :( They put me in a rental quad cab 2wd with the V6 and 8 speed and it rides like shit compared to the ole wagon. The adjuster looked under there and said, damn, I've been doing this for 17 years and never seen someone crack the pumpkin! I said, if you're gonna tear it up, you gotta do it right!
