Hey guys, Big Blue and I need a couple pics of an installed 3rd gen winch, hood up, bumper on pics. My 4th gen seems to be clocked a bit different! Help us out!

The 4G's are backwards from the 3G's.

Re: Need third gen winch set up pics!
Thanks rusty, I don't have access to that! I'm not part of their forum, can't see it. Can anyone tell me if this looks right for the 3G?

This photo is a 3G setup. The short lever on the passenger side, relay pack on the driver's side. And the grille raises with the hood, which affects access to the lever. Hence the long lever for the 4G.Graveltravels wrote:This is what I was able to pick of the web. Any 3G guys able to confirm this is your configuration? Short clutch lever?

Re: Need third gen winch set up pics!
Ya that's what I thought. I looked at a 2012 at the dealer this morning and the winch I have is like that one. I started to install it yesterday but I didn't have any help (heavy SOB) and it wasn't fitting so I stopped until I could research a little more. It seemed like the mount/cradle would fit in the brackets between the frame but It didn't seem like there would be enough room for the control/relay box, and the lever was definitely not gonna work. Gravel Travels and I exchanged a couple of texts and he said the level could be moved (clocked) so I may need to do that. How does that level attach? Does it just screw off? Might make it easier to install if that were out of the way. May actually have to flip the winch in the mount depending on the space available. That will create another problem though. The hole in the mount for the remote connector will be wrong. Guess I should have made sure it was a 3rd gen winch before I bought it. Assumed they would be the same. Besides, no 4th gen guy would sell his winch right?
If anyone knows for sure if it will or won't work in my 2007 I'd appreciate the info. Thanks.

You don't have to mount the controller on the motor, I mounted mine higher out of the road spray and replaced the solenoids with a Runva Winch Contacter.

Thanks guys!! You're awesome!! Big blue, you might have to see if that long clutch handle will hide behind the grill, or else buy a short lever. Either way, text me if you want, I can run you thru clocking it, if need be!

Do you have a part or model number for the Runva? Just curious about it. Thanks.Trouble Maker wrote:You don't have to mount the controller on the motor, I mounted mine higher out of the road spray and replaced the solenoids with a Runva Winch Contacter.

Re: Need third gen winch set up pics!
Update (and a question) on installing a 4th gen winch on my 2007. I took the winch off of the mount and removed the cable from the winch to make it light enough to work with. The winch mount fit perfectly into the existing frame brackets. Not sure if its the same as the 3rd gen mount but it fits as if it were made for a 3rd gen. Next I tried lifting the winch in place to attach it to the mount but couldn't do it because the clutch lever interfered. So...I re-clocked the lever and was able to to get the winch to mount! Awesome right? I thought so until I tried to engage the clutch and it hit the mount. Couldn't engage it. Damn! At this point I think I have a few options. One would be to re-clock the lever again to below the the mount. The problem with that, I think, is I would have to engage the clutch from under the truck. Not only a PITA but could be impossible if the mud gets deep enough. Another option would be to alter the lever. Not exactly sure how I would do it but may have to shorten it somehow. Not a fan of altering things if I don't have to. A third option would be to reposition the clutch lever if possible. I don't mean re-clocking it. I mean removing the lever and spinning it 180 degrees. Which leads me to my question. Can the lever be repositioned? Does anyone have any experience with or knowledge of how it attaches inside the case? I THINK on a third gen winch there's a set screw outside the case. Not so on a 4th gen. Guess I could call Warn and see if they would help. Thanks!
