Beefed up sway bar Brackets
Beefed up sway bar Brackets
Hello all, I am new to the forum and have a question. I have a 2007 P.W. with 90k on the clock. Last night the passenger side anti sway bar bracket took a dump. it cracked at the rear bolt hole and the entire sway bar dropped out of position. I removed the broken bracket welded it back together and re-installed the smart bar to its original position, but for the bulk of the vehicle and the size of the smart bar the bracket seams very crappy and ill suited. I am looking, with no luck so, far for a beefier bracket set for the P.W.'s sway bar. Do you guys have any leads on a good set?
Thank you in advance,

DTProfab links are very nice. I bought a pair and put them on and no issues, except that I didn't align them properly nor was I able to properly tighten down the locking nut, so mine loosen up, and currently I believe my passenger side is higher than driver. It's no fault to DTProfab, just my laziness.

Re: Beefed up sway bar Brackets
What exactly broke? The bracket that holds the sway bar on the frame? I've had a couple of those bolts shear off before but haven't seen the bracket itself break. I don't think there are beefier ones available anywhere for the stock bushings, if we're talking about the same thing. Maybe yours were rusted?

Will one of these work?

Or these? Take some measurements and see.

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

Yes the actual bracket that holds the rubber bushing broke. The rear bolt hole tab broke of it. its the one on the passenger side that has the smart bar motor/actuator hanger welded to it. The truck is rust free , but I did notice rust in the fracture when I was cleaning it up to weld it back together.

Oops, I read your original post wrong, I was thinking sway bar links, not bracket. Please ignore my comment above, haha.

Re: Beefed up sway bar Brackets
Your's are not the first ones to break. There have been a couple of other people reported that their brackets have broken. Welded them and keep going.

Re: Beefed up sway bar Brackets
My brackets are fine, but had one of the bolts shear off, and as of yet have been unsuccessful in removing it. I ended up pulling the end link off and have just not had a sway bar for 3 years

I had the same issue. They are not easy to get out. Those extracting bits didn't work and I couldn't weld another boot to it without hitting the frame. Ended up drilling it out and then putting in a Helicoil. 7/16" size. It's a bigger bolt, so it should be good forever now.
Re: Beefed up sway bar Brackets
Place a nut over it and weld the center to the bolt, then back it out.
