I'm pretty well convinced I'm getting these next week or the week after, with rims. We'll see how long they take to get.

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

Re: General grabber finally dot 37"!!!
LOTS more cheaper! haha. If I'm not mistaken, Cooper makes them. I asked my local tire guy for a "cheap" mud tire to put on the scrambler and this is what he gave me. I'll see if I can get a price today, I'll be needing tires soon anyway.

Re: General grabber finally dot 37"!!!
My guy can get the 37x12.5r17 for $235 a tire plus $200 freight for four, or I can wait until they get their next truck and maybe not pay freight... He'll probably charge $20-$30 a tire to mount and then I'll tip him. Very possible to get a set for less than $1200.olyelr wrote:Wow I have not seen those before. That doesn't sound like a good deal for an off brand tire.

I'm all for saving money where possible, but tires are the only thing between you and the road/off-road. Nothing has a greater impact on how your truck performs.

Re: General grabber finally dot 37"!!!
Now I'm more determined to try them haha. There's really not that many tire carcass makers in the world, they all make many under different names with slightly different tread patterns. This tire was introduced less than two years ago. I can't even get a 35" but can get a 37" and have personally used the 31" and they're awesome. We shall see....

If it weren't for the additional fees it would be a great deal. I can get 37" Cooper SST Pro and ST Maxx for about $1250 OTD through Discount tire. I paid $1350 for 37" Toyo RT's.

I never said off brand tires were junk, but as with many things in life, you often get what you pay for. However If Will found another good 37" tire for us that doesn't cost an arm and a leg then that's great!

Re: General grabber finally dot 37"!!!
I cough up between 2000 and 2300 a year for tires. On one vehicle. Worth every penny getting what works best for you. Cooper St maxx in 245/70/17 cost $1600 installed for my wife's jeep.
On the truck I get average 75k km a year per set and I never wear them below 6/32". I need my tires to perform no matter what. And not leave me stranded 1500km from home.

This is the 31x10.5 that went on the Jeep. I can't find much at all about them online but I know how they do on the Jeep. I told the guy to get them on the next truck so I don't have to pay freight, could be a couple of weeks but I'm gonna give them a try because money is tight right now. Maybe next time I can try out the General Grabbers since I high jacked the thread a little

I can barely see the tire with your giant bear paw of a hand in the way lol. They look pretty aggressive, do you spend much time on highway with your scrambler?

Re: General grabber finally dot 37"!!!
One of my buddies totaled his truck on a deer and he's been driving the Scrambler everyday for 2 months. I know it's a different application but they're wearing really good and have gone through just about every terrain North Florida to middle Georgia has to offer. I have no idea how many miles are on them because the speedometer is wayyy off and stops around 45 mph.

I hope you didn't take my comments as anything negative about the tire. I'm sure it is fine. If you can get them without the fees that would make it a great deal.
Re: General grabber finally dot 37"!!!
Naw man, it don't bother me. Right now, I'm thinking I can buy them and get them mounted and balanced for $1000, I'll be the guinea pig for that. Re: General grabber finally dot 37"!!!
I've used the low cost tires at one point. I always found half the tread life or less. Average performance. And puncture easily. Or they were bad luck magnets. I always found you get what you pay for. For example there is a tire called the wild country xtx. It's very similar to the nitto terra grappler. Put a set on the wife's jeep. Lasted 40k km and got 2 flats cost me $900 installed. Pretty good traction all round and decent on ice and snow. Switched to the nitto terra grappler. Same size. Same roads. Same commute. Lasted 85k km and no flats right to 4/32". Better on gravel with no chipping and better on ice and snow conditions. Only cost $400 more. So yes the low cost tires work. But once you have a back to back comparison of very similar tires the higher price becomes a more sensible purchase. I'm not knocking anyone's tire choices. By all means giver and if they do what you need them too then fantastic. If they last longer than any other tire you have used the. Great!! Hell I'm the guy that bought the last set available of bfg all terrains in 195/75-14 and put them on an eagle talon!! And after 40k km they don't even have 2/32 wear on them.
Best of luck with the Hercules. Let us know how they perform
