White Knuckle Sliders-Shipping

If it's about Power Wagons, all generations, this is where it'll go. This is the original PWR Forum Power Wagon Technical Discussion Section. And this includes everything that doesn’t fit in any one of the other categories related to the truck goes here!

I'm on my phone so I don't know if anybody mentioned this yet, but you can ship through Fastenal and it's CHEAP. Like $125-175 for whatever you want. They have their own freight line. Only thing is that White Knuckle would have to haul the pallet to a local Fastenal, then the recipient has to pick up at a local Fastenal. They don't pick up or deliver. But moving heavy stuff from A to B is cheap with them. Something worth checking out. We started shipping heavy stuff that way for some customers and saved them a ton of money. I have a great relationship with our Fastenal sales rep so he actually picks the stuff up at our shop for us in his truck.

The residential freight charges with standard LTL freight companies can be high, but it's typically just $50-$100 extra for residential delivery with a lift gate. I have had customers meet the driver at a commercial location (gas stations and Wal Mart parking lots work well) and just slide the pallet into their truck bed. I've done that myself before I had a business. My tires are too big to UPS so I've done that many times. Just some info, hope it helps.

Did it do any damage to the inside of the rocker where it attaches?

That is the main reason why I am buying the White Knuckle sliders. A $1000 for the sliders is nothing compared to what it would cost to repair rocker panels or other body damage on our Powerwagons. John at While Knuckle and I actually discussed that when I placed my order. They are CHEAP insurance for for expensive vehicles. The damn things have skid plates front to back underneath them, they should have rocker protection as well. The rocker panel area is the most vulnerable part of the Powerwagon besides the front diff.

Mine were shipped last week, around two weeks ahead of schedule. I was surprised when I got the email so quick. Hopefully they'll be delivered in the next day or two and I can go pick them up. I ordered the primer and bed liner tonight. I ended up going with a couple quart cans and ordered a spray gun as well. I can then use rattlecan bedliner for touch up.

I pulled my Luverne boards off Saturday and found that during their time on some of the metal is torn/dented on the inside of the rocker panels where the boards connect. There is no damage on the underside of the running board so it was either a light hit or just from normal use. What a piss poor design on these new pickups.

I posted them for sale on Craigslist. They are $450.00 new and I'm asking $200.00 and haven't received one call/message. I guess I'll have to lower the price more.

Within the first month I had mine, I bottomed out the passenger side on a hard dirt mound and it has a nice long dent it, that was five years ago. Now, If I drag it, I just dont look down there.

Re: White Knuckle Sliders-Shipping

My concerns about the shipping and why I started this thread were apparently well warranted. My Sliders arrived in town yesterday morning per the tracking. I never received a phone call as I was supposed to all day so I contacted the shipping company via their chat line last night and was given a name and phone number to call today. I tried that this morning and left a message. I waited a few hours without a call back and called the customer service number. I was told that someone would be there from 4 to 7 tonight and I could pick them up then. Early this afternoon I get a call from message I left earlier and she also said someone would be there at 4. I get off work, hook up the trailer and drive down to the pickup location and the place is closed. I call a number on the door and get a guy out of Colorado. He said there was a driver on his way. I waited a half hour and still no one there. I call the guy back and he said someone should have been there by now and he would have his supervisor call me. About 10 minutes later the Supervisor calls me and says that everyone left at 3 and wondered who told me I needed to get my shipment at 4. I told him and he was apologetic and said that someone should be there tomorrow morning at 0700. If no one is there after my 2nd attempt then they will deliver them to my house. I made the comment that my shipment arrived yesterday morning and why no one had called me? He couldn't answer that question. Hopefully i can get my sliders tomorrow. After I get them I will be leaving them a not so nice review, this is incompetence at it's finest.

It's just been one of those days......

Before I got stood up by the shipping company YRC I had a less than friendly chat with my neighbor. He seems to think it's okay for his buddy to come over in his drag car and burn out, run stop signs, and drive recklessly around the house. He's upset with me for calling the Sheriff. Never mind the safety of my children, neighbors, people out walking, etc. Had he said a simple apology and said he would make sure his buddy would never do that again is all that was needed. He chose to take the I take no responsibility, I've lived here longer, and your wrecking my fun approach........

Good on you for restraint. My neighbor's wife called the police on me last summer after I knocked her jack ass husband out because he had kept harassing me about my sprinkler water running down hill & getting on his dead ass lawn making it green, and then harassing me when I tried to cut an extra strip off the property line that my sprinklers made green trying to be nice, & after the 5th+ time, I had enough ...

That's a good story, I just can't figure people out.....

Neighbors, you can't live around em, and you can't bury them in the backyard....legally anyway.

I called my neighbors son who lives down the street. I told him that his dad is 68, but acts like a 16 year old. He chose to take the hard way, when the easier way would have been much better. It takes all kinds I guess.......

Glad you got your sliders.

You guys just need to sit on the front porch letting the neighbors see you sitting there cleaning the AR, and the AK for a few hours. Racking the bolts a coupling of times. Sticking the mags in, and removing them. Just playing with them. Not saying a word. After they see you. They will keep their distance.

My neighbor is a gun nut, so that wouldn't matter. He is just a self centered SOB that is all for something as long as it benefits him. If he is in the wrong, then it's someone else's fault (in this case me). I'm done with him. I have tried to be neighborly for the last 5 1/2 years and this was the straw that broke the camels back. There are just some things that I will not look the other way on. The safety of my children is one of those things.

Got my bed coating spray gun from Amazon today after it went from California to Kentucky and back to Colorado and then delivered. UPS did a pretty good screw up with that shipment. At least it was only one day late. About as bad as YRC Freight and their major lack of internal communication.

DIY Bedliner is a PITA. I thought that doing the over the counter spray on bedliner would be the way to go, but it wasn't. I spent the better part of this evening stripping off the bedliner that I applied on Saturday. I am thinking it is the primer that is causing the problem as the primer peels right up with the liner. I thought about trying it again, but don't want to go through the hassle a 2nd time. So much for trying to save a few bucks. I guess I'll get estimates tomorrow and schedule an appointment to have them professionally done. At this point I kind of wish that I would have just had them powdercoated and then shipped, but I still think that using a bedliner is the way to go as it will stand up to rocks/gravel better and the step will offer more grip for getting in and out.

Here's the stuff I use on the rock rails and nerf bars. If it gets rubbed off on the rocks. When I get home. I just mask the truck off in that area, and reply the coating. Better then having having to make an appointment and wait for them to take the truck in and respray it. And they would get tired of you showing up after each offroad trip.

That's what I used, but I bought a gallon can of premixed and then purchased a undercoating/bedliner spray gun off Amazon to apply it. If it does get nicked up on the bottom I will used the aerosol version to touch it up. I used a metal etching primer and I think that's why it wouldn't stay on as the primer peeled off attached to the bedliner. I roughed up the metal with 80 grit and when I peeled the coating off the metal was as smooth as a baby's butt. I thought about trying it again, but really just want to get them mounted.

I got two quotes today. The Line-X will cost $399 and the Armacoating is $400. More than I planned, but I really think it will be worth it in the long run. The factory coating is so much better than the over the counter stuff. It goes on hot and is much stronger. I've had the Armacoating in my bed for going on 4 years and it is standing up very well. I am going to go with the Armacoating since they are local. The Line-X is 60 miles away. They are the only two around, which surprised me. Powdercoating just does not hold up so I'm certain this route is the way to go. The lady I spoke to at the Line-X place said that they have a lot of powdercoated items come in to be redone with Line-X. Buy once cry once I guess.

I am going to use the duracoat bedliner I purchased on my grille guard. Since it is Powdercoated it should adhere fine to it. I'm not out much, mostly just the 4 cans of primer. I can use everything else on projects like the grille guard, my trailer fenders, the two resto projects I have, etc.

I dono. I dont care what product you use, when you drag a slider across a rock with a 7000 pound truck on top of it shit is gonna scrape and peel up. Period.

I like the idea of using something that is easily touched up just for that reason.

I do as well and that was my original intention. If I nick up the bottom I can certainly touch it up with the aerosol bedliner in a can. The top should stay in good condition and that is what is visible. i most definitely want to go with bedliner as powdercoating is slick when wet and it doesn't hold up with the gravel/crushed granite roads around here. Time is money as well and I already have a bunch of time invested in prepping and spraying them. If I had all the time in the world I wouldn't care, but I have a lot of things on the to do list.

Good thinking. I did line-x, it was about $180ish + tax, I bought a few cans of this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002MB ... PDKIKX0DER, to touch up the bottoms. I've got a few scrape-up spots a few inches in length, and I hit them with that duplicator, and yeah, you can tell the difference, but it's on the bottom, so who cares.
