2005 PW, what bulb to fits to give more light?

Post by bigchelis » Thu Feb 18, 2016 12:49 pm

Hi,
I saw a good thread here on the 9012/9011 fog light bulbs and decided to go with the plug and play 9012's for my fog lights.

Now, I just want to purchase the headlight bulb and was looking for some plug and play bulbs that I can fit.

Any help appreciated.

Thank you,
bigC

Phillips extreme vision bulbs are probably the best drop in non hid option.

There is nothing you can do to make the '05 factory headlights acceptable, short of retrofitting HID projectors. You can make them better, but you can't make them good. I have tried.

I have purchased the 9012 bulbs for my fog lights and now just placed my order for the 9007 Phillips Xtreme Vison and will install them this Sunday in hopes of some noticeable to my eyes at least difference.

The Philips X-tremeVision are considered to be one of the best 9007 bulbs on the market, there should be a pretty noticeable difference compared to your old bulbs.

What's the condition of your headlight housings? Are they yellowed/hazed? If so, consider replacing them with a pair of OEM units.

The headlight harness may benefit from an upgrade to relays and heavier gauge wire as well. See HERE

Are you running your fog lights with high-beams? If so, don't. Fog lights are designed to throw light a short distance in front of the vehicle, good for slow driving during inclement weather, not at all good for 95% of driving conditions.See HERE

If you still want more light after doing the above, the only other safe, effective and legal option is to add a pair of good auxiliary driving lights.

Cibie, Hella or J.W. Speaker should have something right for you. Even a pair of good, unassuming and inexpensive halogen lamps will make a difference.

Personally, I will be purchasing a pair of the J.W. Speaker TS-4000's to aid my high-beams. :lockedandloaded:

Good luck.

So, I put the headlight and new fog lights. While it was not a night and day difference it is definitely noticeable and less yellow incandescent light and now more white light. The fact that you can see the extra brightness is good enough for me but its definitely not going to be like putting on high lumen LED or HID conversions .

Definitely worth it and I would do it again!!!
